Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I'm enjoying some Sae Midori Asamuchi from O-cha in my new 160ml yohen mogake hiramaru kyusu teapot by Hiroshi Mizuno from Artistic Nippon. I decided to try something different tonight. I watched one of Akira Hojo's videos on brewing green tea on his YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Very nice. I've been eyeing a Hagi cup for myself. When I first saw one I thought, It's sort of monstrous now, isn't it? But no, it's quite beautiful in it's organic imperfection. I really do like the Hagiware. Seems like a lot of things are starting to grow on me lately. When I first saw the kobiwa...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
When in doubt though with a new very fine needle sencha I usually reach for my Gyokuro sesame filter kyusu that pours like a ferrari. That's a very nice looking kyusu, and I love the photograph. What size is it? Based on what I'm seeing in the photograph, I'm guessing you stacked your infusions and...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Sae Midori from O-Cha served in our wintry, white Kairagi Hagi cups by Kashun, brewed in one of our 260 Mil Yamada Sou direct wall filter kyusu. This kyusu pours 100 percent times better than the Guisi used yesterday. Yesterday, Chip used a Guisi direct wall ... not the perfect pour for fukamushi, ...

Re: Hojo Response Delay
I just learned about Adagio. I wss browsing theit website last week. That is impressive service. I received my new kyusu from Artistic Nippon in 6 days, shipping with EMS. I was very surprised. I will post some photos. I selected a small parcel delivery, so it might be a few weeks before I receive it.

Re: Reflecting on my first several weeks of my new tea life adventure
Interesting, I had not heard that story before. Perhaps the question was rhetorical, but who knows...maybe it would take more than one lifetime to master preparing the perfect cup of tea. But then again, what's a perfect cup of tea? To you, what might taste like perfection, might be a harsh and bitt...

Re: Hojo Response Delay
Just thought I'd mention that today Akira sent me the invoice. It wasn't that much of a delay. I sent in my original order on Friday, and revised it on Tuesday. Today is Thursday. I am looking forward to trying out my new houhin. Tonight I brewed tea in my new yohen mogake hiramaru kyusu teapot by H...

Re: Reflecting on my first several weeks of my new tea life adventure
I never sought to train the tea to perform, neither by water, teapot nor temperature. I looked for nothing more than to let the tea express itself. Meaning there were parameters, pairings, things of that sort, but to the extreme of having a circus dog perform for me, I never chose that preparation....

Re: Hojo Response Delay
Hojo’s response got stuck in his draft folder, not his spam folder. It appears from his site that he travels a good bit buying tea so he’s not in the office full time processing emails. This is the only occasion for me there was a significant delay in receiving a response. I’ll definitely continue ...

Re: Reflecting on my first several weeks of my new tea life adventure
I still don’t drink Japanese greens as much as I should. Every time I brew myself a cup I am asking myself why I don’t drink it more regularly. But I am in a phase when I just want to try out different teas and narrow down what I like. I realized It has much to do with seasons too. Although I could...

Re: Hojo Response Delay
I'm glad I found this thread. I had some communications with Akira before placing my order, and each of his responses were delayed. No big deal, but I placed my order on Friday, then forwarded it to his other email address on Monday, and then I revised the order Tuesday. It's Wednesday morning and I...

Yes, indeed. I might have to consider picking up a camera again.

Thank you for the information, @Victoria. I'm looking forward to using it. I'll probably brew some tea in it tonight.

First and second kyusu
This is my first and second kyusu. 20200113_111442-1.jpg The one on the left is 360ml. As I gravitate toward drinking smaller cups of tea and multiple infusions, I'm realizing the kyusu is a little too large, especially since I usually drink alone. When I want a larger cup, say 8-9 oz, it's not too ...

Re: Reflecting on my first several weeks of my new tea life adventure
When I first tried various green teas, I could not understand, and could not tolerate my bitter concoctions. I read about the sweet and delicate flavors of the finest green teas, and abused the ones I bought so that any fine qualities they did possess were masked by my 200 degrees and 5 minute sing...
