This pot is so beautiful, especially with the new lid I think of all your pots I like this one the most. May I ask who made this lid?

Re: Yixing
You were asking about mould marks, of course mould marks do not look like tool marks... :? The ones you talk about are when the artisan is smoothing out rough edges that come from the mould... I was taking about what I've read in the blog of Mud and Leaves: Half handmade teapots will have many smal...

Re: Yixing
Go to your garden shed and look at the watering can made out of plastic and look inside. That is exactly how it looks like. Half handmade teapots will have many small scratch/tool marks inside the teapot where it was shaped against the mould, whereas a fully handmade teapot will not. Apparently, we...

Re: Yixing
@Bok
As I wrote a couple of posts before, I thought that these marks came from when the teapot was shaped against the mould. Thanks for the explanation. What would "mould marks" look like... in comparison to this technique? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Re: Yixing
But for instance, I have never seen F1 pots with these very marked bottom lines From what I know, this depends on the size/shape and age of the pot. These two are F1 green label pots in my opinion (the second one was confirmed by experts). There are not as many lines as in the modern pot and the di...

Re: Yixing
It depends on the shape and size and what the artist wants the bottom to look and feel like. So you have to pay attention to multiple signs... right? The pot you asked me about has these lines on the inside and also a line on the spout. In my opinion, this means that it's a semi handmade pot... or ...

Re: Yixing
Would that be the fully hand made way of doing ? Can be both. That's interesting. Could you please explain it? That's what I believed so far: Half handmade teapots will have many small scratch/tool marks inside the teapot where it was shaped against the mould, whereas a fully handmade teapot will n...

Re: How to remove an export approval seal from porcelain?
@pedantI bought some lemon oil for about $5 today from Amazon. I guess it's better to do it right from the beginning.
I know that most collectors wouldn't remove it. It's the same with the F1 stickers. But I like them better without.

Re: How to remove an export approval seal from porcelain?
pedant Thanks 👍 The heat gun is a great idea... but I won't use a razor blade at first. I used it on my phone to remove a screen protector and scratched the display during the process. debunix Thanks for the advice, but I don't have lemon oil at home. Maybe I can use distilled vinegar. I think I'll...

How to remove an export approval seal from porcelain?
I'd like to remove a wax seal from one of my porcelain plates. Yes, it's on the bottom... but I don't like it. ;) I'm wondering how to do this right. My first thought was to use a lighter to melt the wax and and then a cloth dipped in alcohol to wipe the wax away. But this does not seem to be the re...

Re: Yixing
I think this has to do with that we only notice some things after we've focused attention to it elsewhere. Maybe you've seen them before but did not care. Like when newly becoming parents suddenly notice all the baby and kids stuff they couldn't give a rats a... about before. I guess this makes sen...

Re: Yixing
I don't know if this happens to you too but whenever I buy a shape I've never seen before after some days the same shape is posted on Instagram or Facebook. Like they knew I needed a similar pot for comparison

Re: Teaware Repair Show-off
Quite the opposite! I think this was an excellent choice, good job! Thank you, I was lucky enough to have a spare lid. 😊 I trust OCTO with his evaluation, but if he's wrong (I guess there's always a tiny chance :D ) this teapot is from 1958. Someone on Facebook helped me with the translation of the...
