Re: How do you choose what tea to drink?
...my best sheng peurhs are only for extended gongfu sessions. I used to drink pu erh at work. I had to give it up, it always tastes off after 15 minutes or so, way too astringent. Also, there's the added bit about going into the breakroom and chiping off pieces unidentifiable green matter an...
Re: Hagi
The survival of the hagis, lol. You know you're into teaware when you're perfectly fine with your cup leaking a bit and cracking and consider that not only normal, but part of the charm. I have not mentioned it to my family. They would not understand.

Re: How do you choose what tea to drink?
Oh, lol to buy. If we’re talking what to drink on a given day, well that depends first whether it’s a weekday or not. Weekdays I leave the house with a thermos of black tea in the morning. Or, if not black, then roasted oolong. A daily drinker type tea. Nothing pricey unless I’m having a terrible we...

Re: How do you choose what tea to drink?
Do you decide in advance or more spontaneously? A bit of both. Oolong and black tea are my staple teas, and I always have at least four of each for variety. After that, I usually have at least one of each other varietyof tea. So I always decide in advance that I have at least a certain amount of ea...
Re: Hagi
It’s been an awesome year in teaware for me. Got my very first Hagi last week! :D One question I have regarding care. I read that because they are porous, you should a) soak them for like an hour in water before use, and b) make sure to dry them really well or they will mold. Some sites also suggest...

Re: Steeping less than full capacity in clay pot
Well, my house is always a comfy 68F. And honestly, I prefer my tea to steep a tad bit colder. More forgiving that way. Harder to oversteep. If i understeep it’s no biggie, just make it hotter next time. But once you’ve oversteeped that icky taste is just...bleh. I’ll post my pots when they arrive. :)

Hm, I hadn’t thought about pouring water over the pot, that’s a good idea.

Huh, seems the consensus is that it’s even better to do less.

Re: Steeping less than full capacity in clay pot
Good to know, thanks. That actually would end up good for me, I prefer to steep my tea colder than most because it retains the sweeter notes more, especially for the oolong I will be steeping in it.
Any detrimental affects on the seasoning.

Steeping less than full capacity in clay pot
Not sure if this is an obvious question or not, So I got teapot money for Christmas! Am planning on buying a clay teapot from Hojo, and I was wondering, l plan to buy a 200ml teapot, but around half the time I’m only going to be steeping around 100-150 ml of water in it. My question is, will steepin...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
Thanks lopin! I’ll have to look into this more. Glad I found out now, I just bought two cakes 2 months ago from crimson lotus, so it is still early days for them.
