Re: Confronting Counterfeit Tea
...there are a few people with whom I share the same likes/dislikes in various teas. I can count these people upon one mangled hand. What happened to your hand? The original article was nice; good job. It's interesting considering how much it does or doesn't matter in different cases if a tea is wh...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
I'm mostly drinking pu'er these days but I mostly just tell the blog about it. Since I am bored at work and writing here and there I'll mention what I've been into. I bought a few lower-end random gamble versions on a trip to Shenzhen around a month ago. Nothing too interesting came out of that, and...

Re: Taiwan/Hong Kong Trip
We visited Hong Kong a bit over a month ago, and Shenzhen, but it's odd mentioning "foodie" themes here since we're not on that page related to checking out if places deserve their Michelin stars. I liked dim sum the most of the times I've tried it; I'm a lot better with a broader range of textures ...

Re: Vietnam Oolongs
You should try the tea from Hatvala (available online.) They are very good. That's nice that you would mention that, also selling what someone might see as a competing product. Hatvala's oolongs are nice. As I see it related to Vietnamese versus Taiwanese oolongs--based on what I've tried, which co...

Travel in China, tea reviews
More of the same on my end except I visited Hong Kong and Shenzhen this month. It wasn't primarily a tea sourcing trip, and I was with my wife, who keeps an eye on expenses. But I did pick up four interesting sheng versions, some oolong for gifts, and a couple of odd samples of "witches broom" prepa...

Re: The art of Kung fu tea
Seems odd coming down on the negative side but I'd rather see someone juggle or do magic tricks, and I'm not that much of a fan of people juggling or doing magic tricks.

Re: "Oolong Puerh" Processing
The way pu erh shoul be stored depends really on your local environment. I can imagine in HK one would seal my teas completely to avoid too much humidity, while in dry climates just keeping the tea in original packaging is fine. In mild climates with moderate humidity, a bag would do. There's just ...

Re: "Oolong Puerh" Processing
Sun drying vs indoor/oven drying must have a considerable effect as well. One of the participants on that Tea Chat thread claimed this was a main cause of sheng not aging well; "Nada" mentioned it on page 2: ...noticed a big difference between those that had been dried in a heated room after pressi...

Research on testing mineral level effect on brewing extraction
To me this could've shifted focus, methodology, and output format slightly and told a more detailed and interesting story but it's still interesting for what it is. The title tells the story: The Influence of Water Composition on Flavor and Nutrient Extraction in Green and Black Tea https://www.mdpi...

Re: Online tea stores dispatching from within the EU?
The thing about random vendors like that is that you could never really judge how good the teas are by description. Even photos don't tell much of a story, and blog reviews wouldn't be easy to place, in general. Somehow it would seem to make more sense for people within Switzerland to buy teas from ...

Re: Online tea stores dispatching from within the EU?
Switzerland isn't part of the EU but per my understanding they take part in related trade agreements. Anyway, I've tried some really nice teas from Tea Mania, located there: https://www.teamania.ch/en/ A range of teas were nice (from trying samples), but the moderately priced sheng stood out as much...

Re: Traveling to India and Thailand - any tea destinations?
Nice! It's all about the little details in commenting on forum threads isn't it, in noticing the year. With online sources being what they are it's hard for shops to do better for making teas easy to find, and for value and good quality. The potential to try teas before you buy them is nice, and to ...

Tea Map references
This subject keeps coming up, that there is no central reference for tea shops, that I'm aware of. I mentioned a few such references in a blog post about finding tea shops (the Reddit sub version, Tea Chat's, Steepster's), but none of those are remotely well populated or up to date. The links to the...

Re: Traveling to India and Thailand - any tea destinations?
I live in Bangkok; I can mention some favorite places here. My favorite stop is Jip Eu in Chinatown. They're not set up like a Western tea shop, so getting a feel for what they sell and getting into tasting in the right range can be tricky, especially related to language issues (they can speak it, b...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
I saw this looking for something else on here. I'm a bit lucky related to climate for storing pu'er because I live in Bangkok, and it's always warm and humid here. Per what I've ran across too much humidity is possible but it would have to be really wet out for that to come up; someone would have to...
