Re: Yixing

@Mark-S

40ml is pretty much only useful for CZ style brewing with cheap heavy fire oolong. Use a minimum of 5g or 7-10g for Chinese espresso

Cool, I did not know they used mixed clays like this in the 80's. Thanks :)
A bunch of pots starting in the early 80’s use mixed clay like this. The earlier versions look nicer though. https://www.facebook.com/groups/twteapo ... 34?sfns=mo

Re: Yixing

This 80’s Duan Niyi, as it’s labeled, seems quite nice. Not exactly antique per se, but a good option I was considering. ./download/file.php?id=5328 TeaTotaling nice pot. Chadrinkincat has the same pot, but i think his is green label if not mistaken. Cheers! Thanks! I haven’t committed to this one ...

Re: Yixing

Bok and Chadrinkincat What’s the % discount for a pot with mismatch lid if I am buying it from a reputable antique shop? They won't sell this kind of pots. Asian collectors will never buy it. I’m actually surprised it sold for $519 especially since the person that bought it likely knows the lid isn...

Re: Yixing

Bok Thanks. Yes these are the pots and deals I dream of, sadly pots like this are seldom for sale. Unfortunately I tapped it w/ my kettle so now it has a hairline crack. Sort of a shame. Teachronicles It was an online purchase I made a couple years ago. Those photos are what I had to go off of alon...

Re: Yixing

Mark-S apart from the miss match lid, this pot is clearly old and genuine. Looks hand built. Sticker as well looks authentic handwritten. It looks red, so it’s either what collectors call Zisha, or Zhuni. Guessing from the shape and size, I think it used to be a Biandeng shape of some kind. 600 wou...

Re: Yixing

Mark-S I was told by a seller that this tea set was purchased in SF Chinatown in 1948 by her grandmother. She was also selling a bunch of other junk that looked like it was found in an old persons attic. The pot looks old enough to fit with the story I was told. The price was too low and I had to r...

Re: Yixing

The description is even more questionable. Found in a box with items c 1912-1915 Not that this is impossible, but... Nonetheless, the shape looks good and the clay / size make this pot even more interesting in my opinion. Why is the description questionable? 99% chance that statement is true....

Re: Yixing

Lovely pot, looks great! Did you swing by the Zisha Art Gallery?? Thanks :) Zisha Art Gallery is normally too expensive for me, but maybe, I will buy a specific pot there some time. Most likely, I won't buy another pot this year. I still got three more in the mail, and I won't have that much time t...

Re: Yixing

Mark-S That pot looks huge, 300 ml? Red clay ball filter? Yep and yep :) Cool!!.... Aside from being a famed dripper, the Square Bamboo is also known for it's beauty in it's definitive lines. Made even more desirable in Hei Xin Tu. Awesome find! Even if the pot is from a later period? I know that t...

Re: Yixing

steanze Bok Thanks, I had not seen this before. - Good chance that this will be my new favorite pot. Shape, clay, workmanship... everything's nice on it, and it even got a ball filter. 8-) The teapot is pretty heavy for the rather small size. ./download/file.php?id=5241 This is one of my favorite b...

Re: Yixing

It shows up in F1 catalogues. Also there are many examples of this shape in FB groups. ./download/file.php?id=5221 Thanks for the catalogue photo. Could you please show me one example on Facebook?
