A list of teashops in NYC

I decided to compile a list of tea shops in NYC since my prior list on teachat was somehow deleted. Feel free to add to list or leave reviews of shops. Flushing, Queens: Fang gourmet tea This prob the most well known shop in nyc. Good quality loose teas including some raw puerh, 80’s-modern yixing a...

Re: Yixing

Chadrinkincat, you may be right! I don’t remember this being on Jing’s site, but it seems consistent with their xiaopin Yixing aesthetic a few years ago. I can’t remember if the guy I bought it from said where he got it; I just thought it looked good. It’s interesting how much the Western-accessibl...

Re: Yixing

Had nice light and a nice, borrowed camera this morning, so felt inspired to take some pictures. :) This is a ~100 ml pot I purchased from a TeaChat member a few years ago. It was represented as being heini, but as you can see here, it's not black but very dark brown. I've read so many conflicting ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

In heaven sipping on my last few grams of Te Company’s Honeyed Evergreen 30% oxidized, medium roast, Qingxin cultivar from Ali Shan, Chiayi County. Baked over logan charcoal, this oolong has an explosion of multi-layered aromas and flavors. Deep evergreen notes in every steep, like sweet pine, with...

07 yqh lingya for me tonight

a lovely tea. rarely disappoints. i think it's my favorite tea from yqh.

side note: the blend seems more consistent than other yqh productions with less session-to-session variation.
Thats definitely one of my favorites from Yang. It’s a very relaxing tea.

Chadrinkincat - yup mica is the shiny silver glitter dots.
This is what I saw in the pic , but perhaps I’m wrong. It’s mostly visible with direct light
that's what I thought. I've just never heard anyone refer to them as white dots.

Re: 4 Signs of a Real Yixing Teapot

Besides the texture and color of the clay, there are 4 kinds of ‘imperfections’ which can be found on true zisha. Read about it on our latest blog post: . . I think that this is mostly true about modern yixing. The lack of mica is actually an important identifying mark of pre-1977 yixing teapots. M...

Re: Yixing

Thanks for the response, Chadrinkincat! Good call—the knob does indeed appear to have been broken off and glued back on. Didn’t occur to me that it might not be the original. Or do you think this pot may be an imperfect copy of the ones in your pictures? I actually just found an example of this pot...

Re: Yixing

I'm helping a friend catalog her parents' Japanese pottery collection and we found a Yixing pot lurking among the chawan. :) Any thoughts? Her parents lived in Japan from approximately 1969 to 1972. We're assuming this is when they acquired the pot, but don't know for sure that they didn't travel t...

A new 160ml pot that's likely early 60's. I haven't started using it yet since I'm working on raising an early 70's 160ml first. 60's looks slightly flatter than 70's. WOW! been searching high and low for one of these. congrats Spend some money on a plane ticket and come to Asia, the money you save...

Re: Yixing

Pretty excited about this new pot. It's an early 80's jade orchid six sided pot made with heixingtu/black star clay. It's prob around 150ml. Really nicely made but shape seems a bit awkward so not sure what teas will work. Anyone have suggestions for what might work with it? https://instagram.com/p...
