Re: Yixing

@DailyTX for the time being probably not wise to visit HK... :(

Don’t know of any website which has verified authentic pots and pictures. Some fb groups do post, but you never know for sure if the pots are real...

I have been looking more about Qing/ROC zhuni. I wonder if anyone has online resources they would like to share? :)
Like what? Pictures of them? Otherwise there are a few Chinese language books published. Wouldn’t know where to get them in the West though.

Re: Is home aging a myth if you don't live somewhere hot and humid?

It will still age, it just takes a lot longer...

For example Kavalan whisky in Taiwan won a few gold medals in the past few years, mainly due to that the climate allowed 5y old whisky to gather a depth of taste that would require a lot longer to achieve in Scotland.

Re: Looking for Yuzamashi info

I believe this pitcher is actually from Japan, but maybe intended for sake originally. I got another one, yet that one is a taobao ripoff of a Japanese design.

Re: Looking for Yuzamashi info

rdl I do use it for both ways, it happens that the picture shows the use as a pitcher... I am not firm on Japanese tea protocol, yet the shape seems to be no different in principle than any other pitcher. You would think that glass had this effect, but the way this particular pitcher is dented, it ...

Bok,
The Yuzamashi is used to cool water before contact with the tea. The chahai is for pouring off after steeping. Are you referring to the Yuzamashi?
Yes, but it can (and probably will by many) be used either way... ?

Re: Looking for Yuzamashi info

If I get this right a Yuzamashi is what the Chinese would call a chahai, so I take the liberty to post what I use: it’s made from glass, as I do not want the material of the pitcher alter the taste of the tea. I prefer to let the teapot take care of that. Why not porcelain you might ask? Porcelain c...

Re: Coronavirus

Baisao in regards to filial piety, I read another article (in English this time) which interviewed one person in Wuhan. He said they’d rather die than go to the hospital for the simple reason that they are full. Infected are sent to quarantine camps which lack beds and even heating, so his elderly ...

Re: Coronavirus

In a sense it's odd we're not hearing people discuss the issue of what Chinese people are going through. They've extended and broadened the New Year's shut-down until the 10th, and of course things are creepier in the epicenter where all vehicle traffic has been shut down. That part is really kind ...

Re: Coronavirus

In the case of corona, Taiwanese media are posting all sorts of worrying news: - people who are getting turned away due to lack of beds available and then pass away are not being counted in the official casualty numbers. - people who pass away are cremated almost immediately without any further caus...

@faj haha, too much praise... I’m just having tea.

I would also encourage everyone never to take any givens persons advice on something as the ultimate truth - always see for yourself and keep an open mind.

Lifting the lid may increase the flow a bit, especially if the lid is tight and the air hole very small. A quicker pour could mean a shorter infusion. Maybe that could make a difference in the result.
Thanks for the explanation. That might be it, something is definitely happening.

May I ask how that adds oxygen?
Not firm on the physics, but wouldn't it add more air through the suction?
