Re: The Porcelain Thread
Two teacups and saucers of Canton exportware. ./download/file.php?id=14871 Nice Canton export set. I enjoy the lyrical quality of the drawings and feel of the porcelain from this period. Yours look like post 1890s. A few references I use; https://apps.jefpat.maryland.gov/diagnostic/Post-Colonial%20...

Re: Req. assistance from tea experts (B/Tea: Darjeeling)!!
Thunderbolt has redeemed itself for me with their Margaret's Hope Premier Moonlight. I've had it twice now and it's excellent. I used 3 g of leaf in 150 ml of water, with slightly shorter steeping times for the second session (2.5/3.5/5/7 minutes) and 175F water. I get a nice white chocolate and va...

Re: Electric Kettles
I recently bought a Stagg without a gooseneck spout for work. I had a combination that had been working reliably for a very long time, I think it was a Bonavita base and a Gourmia kettle body, and apart from occasional descaling, everything was OK except...no hold mode. As soon as it gets up to tem...

I’m enjoying this morning Thunderbolts black FF 2003 Turzum Basant Blossom that is also moderately priced. It’s pretty nice steeped at 2.5g/100ml175F/3.5 min using low mineral count water.

Re: Req. assistance from tea experts (B/Tea: Darjeeling)!!
I'm drinking a sample of Castleton Vintage Premium FTGFOP1 (CH) First Flush that I got in my last order (150 ml/180F/2.5, 4, 6 minutes). It's very smooth, with some green FF characteristics. It has some honey, nuttiness, and citrus, but I don't get the advertised florals. I'd say this is a good tea...

Re: Your favorite Dan Cong vendor?
might try to buy her teas from Kyarazen. Kyarazen does not sell tea. Well as they say, to each their own. Tastes vary for sure. I’ve had the most positive experience with teas I’ve had via Kyarazen’s recommendations, as well as the ones he now sells . Our tastes align very well, and I am very grate...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
First snow of the season, very quiet outside so to savor the moment I selected a special lightly roasted DaYuLing from HT Chen. Nutty brothy with lots of viscosity. Perfect.

Re: Celadon Appreciation
Japanese cup with forest and river. It has very light blue color, like a sky in a morning haze. The glaze is very smooth and thick. It has also fairly thick walls, so I’m still finding out what tea it is suitable for. I was told it’s quite old, but I’m not very experienced in antique porcelain, so ...

Finally putting in a big order with HY Chen for roasted DongDing, roasted Lishan, a few blacks and bug bitten, but realizing now with Tillerman shuttered that I’ll need to source most low roast high mountain elsewhere. Hmmm

Re: Electric Kettles
My next kettle might be Stagg Corvo EKG Pro Electric Kettle, it’s pricy so on sale . It has a faster pour than the gooseneck version, which is pretty slow.

Re: Electric Kettles
Recently I've dug out an electric kettle that I want to make use of. The parts that have contact with water are stainless steel, but the lid, the handle, and everything else is plastic. It does smell like a factory new DVD player. Do you have any reliable methods of removing such odors? I've tried ...

Re: Yixing
For stubborn pot smells I have tried vinegar, baking soda, citric acid soaks and boiling all with pretty limited success - nothing has worked as well for me as sodium percarbonate for any kind of cleaning. Yes, for my stinky smelly yixing the only thing that did the trick was sodium percarbonate af...
