Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
...If you have a more rounded teapot, with smaller opening, I recommend using that for oolong, to maintain heat more evenly while steeping. With a big opening those leaves will cool very quickly, great for Japanese greens, but not so much for oolong that takes off boiling water... Thank you for the...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Thanks for your insight! I always enjoy reading everyone’s take. I was going through my stash yesterday afternoon and realized I did actually order a 10g sample of the winter harvest. I am sipping on it right now. There is more body and aftertaste for sure. ...the smell of the dry and wet leaves... ...

Re: Japanese Teaware Vendor Recommendations
Thanks for posting about those sellers @debunix! I did not know about them.
tokoname.or.jp also has an eBay storefront that is regularly updated. I’ve ordered 2 pots from their eBay store. They shipped next day and were very well packed.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Much thanks to everyone for the vendor information & recommendations!
@LuckyMe, do you have a preference for the winter or spring harvest of the Shibi? My sample was from the spring harvest, so, if you have tried the winter harvest, what’s different about it?

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Tillerman & Victoria My first order for Taiwanese tea was going to be an organic gaoshan (from what I recall) that was available from Tillerman a few months ago. Must have been around October/November. At the time I was still debating whether or not to get into the world of Taiwanese tea, and I dec...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Good to know if I start finding some of their others underwhelming. I just finished a sample of that and found it very enjoyable. I’m new to TTC and have very little experience with Taiwanese tea in general.

Re: Japanese Teaware Vendor Recommendations
I have purchased a teapot from https://www.sazentea.com
Their customer service, response time, & shipping time is excellent! Plus I feel their prices are very fair for their teaware.

Re: When is Shudei No Longer Shudei
They do! According to HOJO, mumyoi is 20% iron. The raw clay is brick red. It’s difficult to work with so it is blended with a local yellow clay (that also fires red) to give it plasticity. I noticed that the Nosaka clay before and after baking looks similar in color to this hon shudei clay used by...

Re: Yamada Sou Mayake Kyusu
 And here I was thinking that no one was interested in the pot! Luckily the pot was just sold and shipped out today so there's no need for you to be admitted (yet) :D Whew... thank goodness! Glad you found the teapot a home... and that I am able to keep up this charade of sanity I have going :...

Re: Yamada Sou Mayake Kyusu
...I've had less interesting pots sell far quicker than this one, so I'm guessing it just has to do with the holidays and people not having any extra cash to spare for any new pots. I’m in this boat money-wise, plus I received some teaware for the holidays... and purchased a shiboridashi with gift ...

Re: A bit of gossip about TC...
Personally I don’t get involved in FB anymore, it’s on the way out if you ask me (deservedly so). Too much distraction on there and malicious tendencies, both by the company itself and third parties which use it to their advantage. Agreed. I decided to start posting on TC when I came to the same co...

Re: Junzo Kobiwako vs. Tachi Shigaraki
How many of you are actually doing this?... I have actually stuck to one water out of economy and laziness for the most part. Only recently have I tried a different water, and I still preferred my local-ish sourced spring water in my clay pots. I figured it was just because my tastes are used to th...

Re: Junzo Kobiwako vs. Tachi Shigaraki
Chip may have a larger Kobiwako available. Here is his tea swap post: https://www.teaforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=883 If you are wanting a larger Kobiwako pot, I think the kyusus are the only available option right now. Plus some of the advantages of a hohin (ease of loading leaves, cleaning) wou...
