Plastic piece in a sample of factory cake

Just found this piece in a sample of a 2007 dayi cake. I found hairs and other parts in the past but not plastic.
What do you think?

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Finally finished off a cake of FTT8653-5. I like the minty camphor profile of this tea. It's prob time to place another order from MXtea. I prob won't be ordering many tou when I do cuz the 2 boxes ones I got are pretty mediocre. Likely just stick to cakes. Anyone try any other FT or XY cakes from ...

Shudei with Sheng/Yancha

Anyone had any experience using shudei clay with either semi-aged sheng or yancha?
How do they work together? how does shudei perform comparing to hongni/zhunni ?
Please share your experience

(I'm specifically referring to the clays used by Sou Yamada).

Re: Suitability of (this) high-fired hongni for mid/aged sheng?

Why wouldn't it be good for mature pu? Sure its prob not super porous due to firing but that doesn't mean you can't use it with aged puerh. If it's HK stored than your likely gonna taste more storage initially but once that fades it'll have more flavor throughout the rest of steeps. I use to use la...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

While there are other heavy metals for us to be concerned about in clay, it is easy to test for lead. I’ve tested every one of my ceramic items for lead and fortunately they have all been lead-free. Selling lead glazed wares is unconscionable in this day and age. What test kit did you use for that?...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

I would reconsider how reputable Chawangshop is as a vendor since they persist in selling this problematic lot of teapots. On another note, after well over a decade seasoning my teapots I now regret allowing them to become so heavily seasoned. Some of us pay a lot of money for fine pots made from e...

Re: Hokujo teaware

So after repeated test-brewing all sorts of teas and also side-by-sides I come to a slightly divergent conclusion as to what others thought of tea pairing for Hokujo. As it is apparently preferable to stick to one kind of tea for Hokujo clay, I will most likely go for Taiwan High mountain. The reas...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

Oh snap, I hadn't heard this (besides the two friends I have who also bought these pots and had similar issues. Got any links? It's a wonder CWS is still selling them with such a widespread issue. I think Honza told one of my friends it would go away with seasoning... technically correct, it seems,...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

Just got this Kohokujo kyusu from Masako Yamada. She has a shop at Tokoname and online at isobe.shop-pro.jp (though it’s all in Japanese). Some folks here are familiar with her (or with Asako Isobe? not sure how they are related) The size (110ml) was perfect for me and also the shape. Still thinkin...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

I wonder if there's something wrong with your pot. Have you noticed the taste when brewing in porcelain? This story about this batch of zinis has been running around. Heard it from at least 4 ppl. Probably issues of very bad storage of the pots. But thanks Atlas ! Some of my pots can certainly bene...

Re: A find in the basement?

Thanks! :)
BTW - IDK if it is true, but I was told more than once to be particularly suspicious of these special shapes (bamboo, plum blossoms, pumpkin etc..)

Re: A find in the basement?

Generally if you have to ask about safety of a yixing than you've already answered the question about quality. I can identify slip casts and very bad fakes, as well as pots that have a potential to be F1/F2 etc. But that is also mostly true about certain shapes. Not about everything. I think that I...

Even the green sticker is poorly faked.
Yea, I think this was the conclusion. But what is most telling here, in my view, is the rim. Good exercise!
