Re: Favourite vessel size for puerh?
How much leaf do you use when brewing in such big pots? I assume you also steep longer. but do you usually go for multiple steeps? Or just a couple long ones? Just like you, I generally prefer larger pots with my PuErh. But size interpretation is pretty different between tea drinkers. My favourite g...

Re: Hongni for wuyi yancha teas
Well it might be helpful if you explain what do you mean by “harshness” comparing to the a gaiwan?
Brewing yancha in a pot requires extra care, especially if the pour is not too great. What are your params?

Re: Hongni for wuyi yancha teas
Was wondering if a Hongni teapot from late 80's early 90's is a good match for da hong pao and wuyi teas. i understand that in the beginning the teapot is still breaking in and will keep absorbing the flavours of the tea, so it would be pointless to compare the taste to a gaiwan at this point. it w...

Re: The (Western) Yixing market
Is that zishaartgallery site considered legit? I remember browsing it a few months ago and seeing a couple pots I wasnt sure about so I sorta disregarded it. Good to hear then :) Yes. I asked a few collectors in SEA before buying anything. What pots were you unsure about? Note that not all of their...

Re: Clay Jars odors
Put charcoal in it for a few days or weeks. Before you put tea in use a blow dryer to slightly heat it up. Rice paper in between the lid and body. Victoria Thanks, Good idea! Something like this: http://a.co/d/b0Si1zz ? http://a.co/d/b0Si1zz Also - just some hot air after a couple of days of charco...

Clay Jars odors
Hi, I have recently purchased a few unglazed Terracota jars to store some broken sheng cakes. The jars are brand new and have a rather strong clay odor. I guess this is normal, but should I be concerned about storing tea there? Will it just go away or change to tea odor? Is there anything I should d...

Jin's Yellow Clay
Hello everyone - was just wondering if anyone is familiar with Jin's yellow clay and can perhaps say a few words on its performance with Sencha. Also, I consider buying this one here, but not sure how comfortable it will be to handle. Would be happy to hear your thoughts!

Re: Is Yixing more porous than CZ??
OK this CZ hongni from YS does actually make a difference . with the bai mu dan & bei dou (which is a cutting from the da hong poa mother plant). The bei dou and bai mu dan are a lot better from the teapot, thick liquor and fuller taste, when compared to a gaiwan. Well, any unglazed teapot will mak...

Re: Some reflections and some new things learned on a trip to Taiwan
Perhaps an "appellation" system will come to Taiwan after all: https://tillermantea.net/2018/12/reflections/ You only mention it very briefly in the discussion over DYL, but for some time now I have been thinking about economico-ethical drinking or about the question of the value of very expensive ...
