Is it any good otherwise?
It looks like ok modern hongni. Try to do compare how it brews to a porcelain gaiwan to evaluate what it does to tea. I suggest to try the same tea a couple of times so that you can separate variation between sessions from the effect of the pot.

I would do the same. When placing a tissue between the lid and body, use only 1 ply. Too thick and it will cause the rims or lid to crack while in transit / being moved.

Cheers!
Yes, this point of the 1 ply is very important.

Re: Yixing

The dragon kiln firing claim is from EoT , but I've heard skepticism expressed regarding it from others too. I have one of these too and it's one of my favorites in terms of overall effect on the teas I brew. Too bad I gravitate more towards the 180+ ml range these days, it's not getting as much at...

Re: Yixing

thanks! the small spout means it doesn't exactly lightning pour. but since it also works well holding the leaf back from the single hole opening and its going to be for LB anyway pour speed isn't a big issue so it works out well. its very shiny, I'm guessing both that and the color being the result...

Re: Yixing

New to me 90s DCQ. Tried it out today with some HK wet storage sheng and it worked out pretty decent, but it's with liu bao where it really shines. Def will be trying to get my hands on more of this clay to compare different firings and production periods - I'm totally sold on it. ./download/file.p...

Re: Yixing

Hi all, I'm looking for information about this teapot I bought from an auction that had a lot of quality chinese art of many kinds. It was just labelled as old yixing clay teapot. Any information will be greatly appreciated and also if you think it's a teapot good for brewing tea or just a decorati...

Re: Yixing

And on the earlier topic of hongni-coated pots, I thought that I'd share a photo of what I understand to be an example of a neiwailinjiang pot; hongni inside and out, and zini hidden within. That is, hidden unless there's a convenient chip like this. At first I did not even realise that it was a co...

Re: Yixing

Am curious to learn more about this pot I was generously gifted. It was sold as an tu hong or Wai hong nei zi or outside red inside purple green label shuiping with box and sticker. However was also told that it may be a full reddish Qing shui ni. Given the relatively even redness insight and out. ...

The F1 plum trunk pot arrived safe! It's interesting to compare and contrast with the other plum trunk pot I have.
Nice! The one in the back looks LQER if I am not mistaken.

Re: Yixing

Got a new/old teapot - could be a F1 Gezui (Pigeon Beak) with ~160ml from the late 70s/80s (Green Label) ? Hope some of the experts can give me some feedback or a confirmation. Thank you! PS: I read on TeaChat that "the 18-hole version usually remained to be so for the early 70s. towards mid to lat...

Re: Yixing

In other news can anyone help me better understand this new-to-me pot? When I thought both of mine were fakes, I shopped around and found this one that I thought was about the size of my Xishi pot. Boy was I off! It’s giant compared to my other two and it’s very heavy. Given how much tea I brewed i...

Re: Yixing

Thank you! I did end up trying them with the Dancong I have just out of curiosity. It is, ironically, the tea I own that I know best. It worked wonderfully in the big pot, but was very much bitter again in the small pot. I will try my giawan next. Interesting! I suggest to try more than one session...

Re: Yixing

steanze, (trying to figure out how to tag someone here) Do they lend themselves to certain teas? What do you usually like to drink? You can try a few different teas and see how they turn out. It also depends on your preference. Personally I would not use them for dancong: with dancong I prefer to u...
