Re: Is tea a spiritual activity for you?

Speaking of which, just saw this one the other day. "If the tea becomes real, we become real. When we are able to truly meet the tea, at that very moment we are truly alive." - Thich Nhat Hanh https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=3598040063556832&id=319228401438031 But it’s not just te...

Re: Is tea a spiritual activity for you?

Maybe John_B , the writer, can answer your question. Question for you 'spiritual' tea drinkers. While looking up the definition of the word "Chajin" (referred to in a Bok post on the Ode to Kyusu thread https://www.teaforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=17&start=345), I encountered this reference to a te...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

Ahh! That’s good to know! Thank you. I’d say, if the lower lip had followed the upper lip up then that’d be Chinese. This one looks 70-80% Japanese to me. :lol: But then... look at this picture - Japanese or Chinese? ;) ./download/file.php?id=5587 It’s an Yixing from the late ROC period ;) The guys ...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

I think so. It reminds me of the time when Japanese started learning to make teapot from Chinese. The spout tip is definitely Japanese. Four sure, as is the lid knob. My point was just that the overall proportions are nothing typical Japanese. But classic proportions as many 1000s of antiques had be...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

I guess Gafu's interest in Chinese style probably dated back quite some time. This's his teapot that I bought in 2015. He didn't have his own kiln back then.

@Noonie

If that’s 80s F1, you may call it a “flaw” but truth is millions of people had been happily using it. :lol:

Re: New Shigaraki teapot

I didn't know about the pH balancing step! I recently cleaned the inside of some of my pots with baking soda, and have found the resulting water made from these pots tasted a little off. I'm afraid of using vinegar though because of its strong smell. Do you think a drop of lime juice would work? Wo...

Re: Oxygen Absorbers & Laminated Storage Bags

The ones I bought are specifically designed to be used in low humidity uses like for tea and coffee. I see. That’s the kind that comes with its own moisturizer. Since you also mentioned coffee, there’s a blog post that is worth reading. https://coffeeadastra.com/2019/03/26/some-strategies-to-keep-y...

Re: Oxygen Absorbers & Laminated Storage Bags

The O2 absorber and silica gel are not supposed to be used together as the absorber needs some humidity to work. I don’t know why your bag was crumbled up, but when using absorber alone the volume inisde the bag shouldn’t change. The ones I bought are specifically designed to be used in low humidit...

Re: Oxygen Absorbers & Laminated Storage Bags

Anyways, I split a 100g bag of tea into 2 50g bags using a laminated storage bag and added an oxygen absorber + silica gel package. I don't really know much about oxygen absorbers but the ones I bought said they absorbed 100cc of pure oxygen (500cc of air) over a period of 4-5 hours and that it was...
