Re: Teaware Repair Show-off
DailyTX Pants404 Darbotek thanks! The handle is made with Kintsugi, so rice, wood powder, Urushi lacquer and gold powder. Plus a little bit of wire skeleton to give it a basic structure and something to hold on :) Solid pieces like that take a lot more layers until you get the shape you are looking...

Re: Yixing
Chadrinkincat The size is 70ml and it has a slow pour (about 20 seconds). Most modern pots are bigger (200ml or more), and the clay looks different. That's why I thought that my pot is at least a bit older. But I have not found a similar pot to compare it with. The clay looks shinier than my Hongni...

Re: Yixing
Well, don’t quote me on it, definite judgement can only be done on the real object.
Also price is part of the equation. If it wasn’t expensive you couldn’t reasonably expect good quality or master made...

Re: Yixing
Bok So you think I bought a bad teapot? Vendor advertised it like full handmade hong ni made by master ./download/file.php?id=4420 ./download/file.php?id=4419 Look how different and purple-ish the broken parts look, I’d be highly surprised if that is hongni... and that weird discoloured part around...

Re: Chanting Pines
People who buy premium tea or teaware do for certain not buy online. It would be foolish to do otherwise. Some have trusted brokers who help them source and minimise the risk. All of that is way above shops like chanting pines and the likes... the only example of a trustworthy premium tea ware shop ...

Re: Teaware Repair Show-off
After a long while my latest Kintsugi project is finished! The most ambitious so far, everything which is now gold was not there before, half of the handle had been missing... wasn’t sure if I could achieve it, but apparently I did :) It’s a proper patchwork pot, the lid is not original and in Zisha...

Re: Yixing
@Simniak somehow the shiny ness of this pot, plus the lines, make think this is not pure Yixing clay at all... full of additives and the colour is not quite right for real Hongni either. Apple shape is a bit off the classic version but that’s just an indication that it is a later style.

Re: Chanting Pines
Many of their antique pots seem a bit too wonky and inelegant for those kind of prices. Also, who are the buyers willing to spend $7,000-28,000 on a teapot over the web? Exactly! I don’t know who they think their target audience is??? For that much money I want to hold it in hands and see every det...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Had some Korean black tea last night. Reminds me a lot of Japanese ones: Clean and no obvious technical faults, yet lacking expressiveness. This one seems to be processed more close to what would be a yellow tea, which explains certain hints of greenish flavour I seemed to detect. Overall nice.
