Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
More Puerh Junky Madness – sheng/raw 2007 LME/Menghai Banzhang Tea Factory Hide Out – One of my favorite teas because it has two different expressions depending on how heavy or light you leaf it. More leaves brings out a wonderful gentle saddle leather, vanilla, white grapes, peach, hints of camphor...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
After a long hiatus I am glad to be back. Been a crazy year but still managed to drink some tea and find some new treasures. At this point I might as well change my name to Puerhfan because I have fallen down the puerh rabbit hole. I blame Tingjunkie since he sent me my first puerh sample, the lovel...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
Put ~25gr of 2008 bamboo stuffed sheng into glazed kyusu. I think that was two days ago, and suspect another overnight steep will do breakfast. Great minds think alike. I just finished Essence of Tea's lovely 2018 Spring Bamboo Packed Puerh. Roasted bamboo and butternut squash notes, char, soft her...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
I also just pulled the trigger and ordered a cake of EoT's recent addition, the 2001 Mengsa Old Tree Tea. Couldn't resist the temptation. Seems like one hell of a deal, if it's half as good a bargain as David makes it seem I hope there's any left to be had once I've had a taste. Anyone else ordered...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
More oolongs from Ethan Kurland :) Da Yu Ling - High mountain, lightly oxidized green oolong. My first introduction of this was from a sample kindly gifted by Ethan on my ast order. This session was from ome that I had ordered. Originally I had planned on waiting until after my next round of kidney ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
The last few days I have been tasting through some incredible oolongs from Ethan Kurland. Da Yu Ling - High mountain, lightly oxidized green oolong. Dry leaves have lovely soft floral spring grass aroma that is also found in the cup. Lovely sweet green pea, spring grass, and soft floral notes. Hints...

Re: My first sheng experience
oolongfan, hopefully you can keep away from the bad stuff.Sorry to hear your health only allows a few sessions a week. I guess those of us who can brew all week should consider ourselves blessed. Thanks for the kind words. I try to remind myself that at least I can drink tea. when first diagnosed w...

Re: My first sheng experience
I read a few of his notes and just tried to get it in the ballpark. Sometimes you nail it and others not as well. I agree on too much tea and not enough time. In terms of aging some like it dank and wet and others dry. Just kind of depends on the person. And about the saline notes, ever get pepper ...

Re: My first sheng experience
... The most striking thing about this tea was a 'candied apricot glazed salmon with dark sweet soy sauce' flavor, which reminded me of recipe from the Alinea cookbook that I tried a few years ago.. I have had fish cooked like this a couple of times & duck cooked this way several times. Really deli...

Re: My first sheng experience
Tea enabling of any sort is a good thing Would love to hear about the sheng you sent. So much tea to taste and so little time (in my case anyway-health issues limit my tea consumption).

Re: My first sheng experience
I hope I converted him. I sent him a package of samples to try. What a nice way to start some off on their sheng journey. 2005 Yun Pu Zhi Dian Changtai "Top of the Clouds" - Crimson Lotus. Beautiful apricot notes with soft tannins. A saline qaulity that I love and associate with more humid storage....

Re: My first sheng experience
Respectfully, I would suggest taking all caveats about young sheng with a grain of salt. Rather learn how your body reacts to it. I have several health issues that result in very slow digestion and motility. I find young sheng a wonderful medicine in aiding digestion...a digestif of sorts for me at ...
