Re: My first sheng experience

Same here. I pretty much gave up all other teas and have gone exclusively pu. Prefer shou but trying to brew sheng better? I recently bought an oolong from same company that I bought pu from. To ME green, sheng, and oolongs all have the same basic taste. OK not all shengs, but young shengs. That's w...

Re: My first sheng experience

I hope I converted him. I sent him a package of samples to try. i think i still have a few yet to open! 8-) Hopefully you will find a couple that you like in there. I have already. I think a big part of it is steeping too long. That's likely my problem with greens and oolongs as well. I just tried ...

What do you mean?
The prices listed are just there to give an idea, for how much a teapot from one of those grand masters are going around in China.
Yeah that's what I was asking. That's quite impressive!

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

thommes how do you look up a term in Chinese written in Latin characters? ;) Chinese is more complicated than that, you’d need the Chinese characters for that. Any given Latin transcription has a variety of possible characters with different pronunciations. In this case it means “big tree” 大樹. So w...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Here we see the limits of tea categories... had a wild dashu as seen below given to me by a friend. Fresh Puerh leaves, yet not fermented or aged or anything, so the resulting brew is closer to a light oolong. Amazingly sweet and citrusy aromas from the dry, dark green leaves. The brew has notes of...

Re: Turkish Style Brewing

As far as I know it's done so every guest can choose how strong they want their tea. Not much point in doing it if you're drinking alone - unless, as you said, you oversteep and need to dilute the tea a bit. I don't know if it's done at restaurants as well, though if everyone at the table is having...

Turkish Style Brewing

Just curious if any of you do turkish style brewing? I've heard two different ways that turkish style is done. Basically a concentrated tea is made and then boiling water is added to it. I can understand doing this at a restaurant to reduce brewing time, but from what I've read it's also done to mak...

Re: Gaiwan

I'll be brewing oolong for the most part, its my fav. I see we both got an electric kettle at the same time and now going toward gong fu brewing at the same time. Do you have too many samples like I do at the moment? I picked up a cute 100ml Little Horseshoe Tianbai Jingdezhen Porcelain Gaiwan from...

Re: Gaiwan

I'm looking for either a gaiwan that won't melt my fingers or an easy gaiwan that I can take places like work. I know M&L makes great gaiwans but I don't know what I am looking for. I'm looking to graduate from western brewing to super minimalist gong fu brewing. Halp plz :D 1. What type of tea are...
