Re: Yixing
./download/file.php?id=9623 One of my favorite zini types... a particular batch used in ROC by 史连生 (1880-1950). Similar clay to the upper handle pot posted earlier. Very dark with a purplish hue, the surface is smooth but shows a lot of texture with tiny yellow specks that make it look like a starr...

Re: Yixing
Not sure. Maybe also just repeating what they were told by whoever they bought it from? What’s for sure is that they did not have much of what today would be called “quality control” in place. This pot’s lid doesn’t look too different though. What happened sometimes is that the craftsman took a dif...

Re: Yixing
Bok This wasn't a vendor. It was a member of one of those Chinese F1 groups on Facebook. So in your opinion, this statement is even wrong for F1 pots? https://www.facebook.com/groups/365818050286648/permalink/1776957735839332/ I attached a screenshot of the pot to this post. In case you are not a m...

Re: Yixing
That's really interesting, steanze , thank you :) --- Could anybody translate this for me please? I don't know if I understand this correctly. It's the answer to the question why there's sometimes a color difference between lid and body. 早期商品壺就是壺蓋密才有問題?二支土胎不同蓋跟壺身交換就是這樣。 Does this mean that they repl...

Re: Yixing
This is an interesting and relevant essay on "fakes" or "copies" in chinese culture: https://aeon.co/essays/why-in-china-and-japan-a-copy-is-just-as-good-as-an-original They are exact reproductions of the original, which, for the Chinese, are of equal value to the original. I doubt that. :? Balthaz...

@Balthazar
I'm generally skeptical about those custom made F1 pots. Yes, they are also sold by "trusted" sellers... but it's very hard to prove if they are genuine or not.

Re: Yixing
@Chadrinkincat Great craftsmanship looks even better than the 60's version from ZAG (in my opinion). However, I think the tongue was missing, right? But still very nice...

Re: Yixing
Yup.. Definitely more promising to me... hahaha.... the other pot looks good, but several 🚩🚩 red flags kept be at bay. The papaya pot at best I would guesstimate (without holding the pot in my hands) to be approximately circa 1970s. Thanks for your reply :) 70's? I thought that I could exclude this...

Andrew S "I think that Bok was perhaps referring obliquely to a certain American tea group that sells water crystals, among more ordinary tea items..." Ah, now I know who Bok was referring to :lol: Thanks for the hint. I did not read this blog post before... interesting. I only got one pot that's o...

Re: Yixing
The first time I read about Julunzhu was on teachat. Someone wrote that they were often excavated from graves... interesting... but also weird. :lol: I know that most antique plates were excavated... but this is a bit different... It's the same with teapots from ship wrecks. I can't enjoy my tea thi...
