Re: Favorite Dianhong

Best I've had in years was teaspring's. Shipping is taking a while though, I should have paid for express.

Re: Shipping delays from China?

Thanks for responses. And thanks Janice, but nope, doesn't show up on that site. Usps says "label created, not yet in system." This shipment is from Hong Kong so I don't think Shanghai delays would have an impact, but who knows. With the state of the usps lately, anything is possible I guess. And it...

Shipping delays from China?

Anyone else had shipments take longer than usual? I've had DHL deliveries from China to US recently take only a few days. But a 'standard' delivery from a HK vendor that usually arrives within a week or two, has taken 3.5 weeks so far, and isn't showing up in USPS or EMS tracking. I've read sea ship...

Re: Black Tea Vendor Topic

What are people's experience with black tea from teavivre? I just ordered samples of every qimen grade she has but will take some time to arrive. I heard teaspring is also good for black tea? I ordered most or all of teavivre's Keemun's a few years ago. Most were so-so, one or two were pretty good,...

Re: NY Times article about beautiful tea

Oh boy, what did I start by resurrecting this thread ;) to be fair it was on the first page of its subforum, and I couldnt resist. tea is just tea. The rest is what we make of it. Yeah I pretty much agree with this take. In the first few years of my tea habit, I collected a bunch of artisanal Japane...

Re: How Much Tea Do You Consume Per Day?

I usually have 14 to 21g per day. I make tea 4 to 6x per day, when possible. 3.5g at a time.

Back when I was in university, especially in winter, I went as far as 50g a day.
That, my friend, is intense.

Re: NY Times article about beautiful tea

An interesting take on the NYT article, written by P. Kerim Friedman, associate professor in the Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultures at National Dong Hwa University in Taiwan; https://anthrodendum.org/2019/12/08/inventing-the-way-of-tea-in-taiwan/ What an amusing and enlightening follow-up ...

Re: Adagio overtakes Steepster ?

its sad when people want legit thoughts on various teas they snatch up the site and slap their ad banners every where and phase out the competition. Kind of like what Yunnan Sourcing covertly did to reddit r/tea. That whole mess was disheartening, I haven't bothered with r/tea or teachat since 2017...

Re: Do you eat any snacks with your tea?

I generally drink tea after each meal. But my morning routine is always a toasted bagel with plant-based tofutti 'better-than-cream-cheese' (it is!) spread, along with a hearty, malty, balanced Assam. I find the tanginess of the bagel (usually pumpernickel, garlic, or everything) and spread pair per...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

I just use PUR filter pitchers. Consistent, at least.

They had one that attaches to a faucet and adds back minerals, that was better, but doesn't fit my current faucet. It was called MineralClear or something.

Re: Mixing true teas?

I am looking into some tips and hints related to mixing true teas together. Funny you mention, I recently accidentally mixed together ~300 grams of previously blended 1st flush Darjeelings with a conglomeration of ~200g 2nd flush Assams. They were all rather middling batches, the mediocre stuff lef...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

2020 Halmari "Orthodox" (Assam) from their site.

It's a bit more broken than their pricier Whole Leaf "award-winning" tea, but tastes about as good. Excellent morning tea and my favorite Assam, perhaps since Meleng and Mangalam estates were still Independent in the Aughts.

Re: What White Are You Drinking

I am drinking a 2017 Avongrove Spring Euphoria – First Flush White. Quite delicious, definitely has those delicate nutty and floral notes of a white as opposed to traditionally processed FF Darjeeling. Perhaps not the absolute best FF White I've had, Vahdam's 2017 Arya Pearl and Okayti Silver Needle...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Up too late, just had a round of this heavenly Xu Fu Long Ya from Teaspring. Slightly disappointed to see that it is $0.70/gram, but that doesn't surprise me, wow it's good. Sweet, succulent. Better than any Long Jing I've had in years, if that's any benchmark. And I guess 3g is still much less than...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

I’ve enjoyed having Singbulli DJ 1/18 SFTGFOP 1 China Supreme, a gift from tea buddy and super steeper Salvador. He shared that Darjeelings this year were better because of the strike last year; “in 2017 they didn't produced 2nd flush and Autumn flush, so the plants had a long time to rest. This ye...
