Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Currently drinking Hojo’s deep fermented bug bitten Li Shan. I love this tea. It’s got the usual Li Shan character, and a really strong muscat quality from the bug bites, and it has a really deep flavor, like medjool dates and raisins, and something else I can’t put my finger on but keeps me coming ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Per my definition and as most people in Taiwan will use the term Dongding, it is a medium to high roasted Oolong. Narrow definition, yes only the ones from Lugu are true DD, also only Qinxing cultivar. In a wider sense, any tea processed in this way is a DD. Typically the ones now winning 1st prize...

Re: 2019 Vendor List

Here's an idea. Maybe having a dedicated recommendation thread would be good. Right now I have to troll through all the threads, and the "what tea are you drinking" threads. Maybe if we had a dedicated thread it would do a lot for putting everything in one place. People who are looking for new vendo...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

It would be exciting to compare the different styles of processing for dong ding. Hojo has six different dong dings that I'm gonna try next time I order from him. He's got Light, medium, heavy, and unfired. He's also got a really interesting looking deep fermented version that I want to try. It’s o...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

I'm visiting Seattle, WA for work this week. I just arrived and I brough some Alishan oolong and some shou puerh (YS Crimson Rooster). I would add Seattle tap water to the list of good tea waters. Wooot! welcome to Seattle internet stranger! :D Don't know if you have time for sightseeing or not, bu...

Re: 2019 Vendor List

Maybe we could explore the use of tagging when talking about vendors to make it easier to use the search function? Like tag the end of a post or something, if you’re talking about a tea or vendor you want posterity to be able to search for? This year I’ve tried exploring green tea, and it was very h...

Re: 2019 Vendor List

I would LOVE a list. It would be nice to have it all on one spot. It’s not even ranking them. People on this forum are WAY more discerning about the quality of their tea than those on Reddit, honestly if someone on this forum feels good about recommending a place, then it’s already the cream of the ...

I like crackle patterns but not tea stains.....
The stain around the bit of exposed clay (circled) is annoying. That's the part that takes baking soda and a soft brush to neaten up from time to time.
Oh! Yeah, I have one or two of those developing on mine. I'll have to try your method.

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

Mukuhara Kashun, purchased from Artistic Nippon. I only see small cups on the site by him now, like these . I check that site several times a week for new items, and I rarely see this larger size cup there. You might write to Toru and ask about similar cups. I've got a pair about 4 inches in diamet...

Re: The effect of charcoal filtered water on oxidation fired teapots

Testing is really fun. Probably won’t do it for a while, because my tap water doesn’t have stuff added to it, but I’ll be moving out in the next 12-18 months, so I’ll have to either filter or buy bottled water.

Cool. Guess I’ll just have to do some testing for myself. :)
