Re: 2020 Spring Harvest
LuckyMe To date, the coronavirus pandemic has not affected shipments from Taiwan to the US as flights are still operating between the two countries. All flights to Canada and most to Europe have been cancelled so direct shipping to those areas is a problem. As Tillerman ships all tea from Napa CA, ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
The package hadn't arrive yet and I was getting seriously worried. I'm spending the quarantine period in Canada, at my daughter's apartment (long story for another time) and had run out of tea. The package contained reinforcements from Napa. So I poured the very last of my leaves into an infuser (I ...

Re: Pectin and Tea
pedant , yes, it is just a theory but you're a bit harsh to say loose :) . I've not yet encountered another explanation for this effect. And the fact that it varies by elevation and weather is indicative for me. Unfortunately, there are no tests of the hypotheses that are available but I suspect th...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Tillerman It might be that the processing of the leaves doesn't "bring out" the potential of the leaves. I've seen mentions that character of old tree oolongs can be compromised if the processing is not proper. There are also other factors like the soil etc. that might hide the difference of seed-g...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
normally people chase and brag about the highest elevation tea they are having from Taiwan The plantation is just next to the seaside and to add some special feature, the plants have been grown from seeds, not from cutting. This affects the taste of the tea, the plant has to work harder to get nutr...

Re: Musings on Dancong…
I've tried a number of Cindy's versions, and a limited range of other dan cong versions across different quality levels. I'm really not familiar at all with the idea that hers (Wuyi Origin's) are produced using wuyi yancha processing techniques; I'm curious about what that means. Both level of oxid...

Re: Become A Flavor Explorer!
Good Morning Flavor Explorers, I started off my early morning today with a wonderful Fruit Scented Rou Gui from OldWaysTea . It was, delicious, light on roasting, very aromatic and long in the palate. If you are looking for interesting Wuyi teas, consider Old Ways Tea. The tea is produced by Mingjia...

Re: Musings on Dancong…
dyungim, no, I've not tried the Hojo teas. Are there some you recommend? Unfortunately I cannot personally recommend any in particular, I just thought the nong xiang type ones might fit your bill if you liked Cindy's fan shu xiang. The processing is probably not the same but they both share extende...

Re: Become A Flavor Explorer!
Good afternoon Flavor Explorers, I look forward to meeting you all online tomorrow at 9:00 PDT (noon EDT) to share our notes and experiences with the Flavor Explorer package. Rather than comment on specific teas (although it is perfectly fine to do that) I like to hear your thoughts on the set of te...
