Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
So glad you're enjoying them! How much Rou Gui are you using and what size is your gaiwan / yixing? It could be an issue of not enough leaf. Often with yancha you need a bit higher concentration, with shorter steeps. I was using a travel-size gaiwan that brews about 60ml of tea (broke 4 full sized ...

Re: For Shui Ping lovers with small pockets...
Little update The pot just arrived today, and i am having my first try with Yancha, a very nice Lao Cong Shui Xien. So far, it is very promising. No clay smell at the first wash whatsoever, and it not too muting, preserves the high notes well enough. I like what it does with Yancha. Especially for ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I've been drinking those teas I ordered from chofmann . The dong dings are very good--I'm enjoying them quite a bit! Might need to stock up on the dark roast  I find the Yan Yun a bit too sour for my taste, though that's probably just my brewing technique. The Rougui tastes nice and is quite ar...

Re: Recommendations for a newb
I would start by ordering samples of top quality teas from well respected vendors. Try a variety of teas from different mountains and vintages. For sheng pu, Jingmai and Lincang are easy starting points (and pocket friendly). Try new young tea, and teas that have been stored for 5, 10, 20+ years. Do...

from someone in Phoenix whose family has a farm in Fenghuang shan, So they all live in Phoenix 😂 I don’t think they know each other, even though they are both in Phoenix. Have you ordered 1st flush Darjeeling this year yet? Any comments? A few people I know are looking for top quality 2019. Excuse ...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
In an effort to finish all the unintentionally aged greens, I'm drinking a 2016 gyokuro "kanro" from Itōkyuuemon  . Just opened the seal about 6 months ago, so the aroma is still there. This tea has a lot of umami, and tastes like a seaweed soup. I used roughly 4g of tea / 100ml water @ 60C fo...

Re: Anyone ever bought Chinese greens from Tea Trekker or Seven Cups?
Haven't had green from Tea Trekker, but can confirm that their Nepalese and Darjeeling are excellent. Was disappointed with their lower cost Lapsang, so I think the quality of the tea is reflected in the price. from someone in Phoenix whose family has a farm in Fenghuang shan, So they all live in Ph...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Thank you, everyone, for the kind suggestions! I happened to order a selection of HY Chen's oolong from chofmann just a few days ago, and looks like it's just shipped! I think it's very likely to be similar to Dong Ding like chofmann suggested, with fruity and floral notes. I didn't actually get the...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
ing this traditionally processed oolong. Forget about the name and concentrate on: sounds like by traditionally processed, you mean hand-rolled. Is the tea green? If so, it is not roasted or perhaps roasted very lightly. Do you have a name of the mountain, region.... it was grown on? Do you have th...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Hello, everyone! I'm new here. Drinking this traditionally processed oolong called "Mountain Pass" that came with this month's global tea hut magazine. Has anyone else tried this? I would like to get more of this stuff, but don't know where to look. Get it from global tea hut? Otherwise impossible ...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
I feel a bit uneasy using bottled spring water (even if by gallon) to brew tea. I can't quite carry those big refillable 5-gal bottle, so that's not an option either. Where I live, tap water is drinkable. I purify it using charcoal and let it sit overnight. Works quite well.

Re: Wistaria Teahouse
Never been to Wistaria in person, but had mail ordered some of their teas. I tried 4 different puerh. What really blew me away was the effect those teas had on my body, rather than the taste (taste was very pleasant, too, but not particularly special.) I don't get this sensation consistently from pu...

Re: Introduce Yourself
Hi, my name is pantry. Have been lurking here for a while. Great place for tea lovers! I'm adding more info here, since my original intro was quite short. (Thanks, Victoria, for the reminder!) How long have you been drinking tea? Since I could remember! Tea is an integral yet ordinary part of my cul...
