Re: Electric Kettles
The only bad thing about having an electric kettle at work now is I won't be drinking plain water as much. I have a thermal carafe that I used to fill up with boiling water from the hot water tap at work. Wasn't perfect, hence the electric kettle, but it worked. When I had water from the previous da...

Re: Electric Kettles
klepto, you went with the Bonavita BV07002US? I'm considering a Bonavita at some point. My electric kettle works fine, but it's over ten years old. It does what it has to do, but it would be nice to have the temperature hold feature. I have to boul water in between infusions, which isn't all that b...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
Decided to try another sheng. Broke into the aged puer sampler and grabbed 2003 Changtai "Ji Nian / Memorial" Sheng from CLT. I had to read the package a second time. Then I looked it up... and looked it up elsewhere. This sheng, and I know I have little experience, is nothing like a sheng! It's mor...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
So far of all the shou pu I've been drinking, I really like the 2017 Nannuo Mini Mushroom Shou / Ripe Puerh from Crimson Lotus Tea. I bought "a lot" of it when it was on sale, but not enough. :( If anyone has had this tea and knows of similar tasting puers, I love to hear about them. The sad thing i...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
Haha I wish the cake I was prying into six hours ago was easy to break apart...still nursing my punctured blood vessel! Next time I’ll be using a special glove on my other hand. Never had a problem before, but the Bingslayer literally went from pointing at 12:00 to stabbing be at 9:00 So far I have...

You want the teas that you recommend to go up in price and run out of stock? Weird.Ethan Kurland wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 1:55 pmNow if only more people did that for buying teas Cheers

Re: Electric Kettles
So far I really like the kettle. It's a little smaller than I thought it would be, but heats quickly from my perspective and is relatively quite.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
2016 "Simple Shou" from Crimson Lotus. Not quite sure why it's called simple. Either because the taste is not that complex or the 50g cake is sort of perforated into 6 sections and it's SIMPLE to break apart.

That's an interesting pot. It looks like the spout retracts.

Re: Electric Kettles
Or starting with really hot water. I have a hot water dispenser which doesn't quite reach boiling. Sometimes I start with that hot water and it takes just minutes to get the pot to boiling.Ethan Kurland wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 11:35 amIf one is in a hurry for hot water, I suggest not filling his kettle more than halfway.

Maybe we could have a tea party at your place?Ethan Kurland wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 11:25 amThough people are no longer living in caves, are capable of so much that is good, etc.; yet, the world is in trouble & not enough people are working seriously to get us out trouble; alas, is a joke bad or is it necessary once in a while?

Re: Aging Pu
As for storage, if it's just one or two cakes i'd keep it simple. First rehydratate the tea (or not): put it a closed odorless container together with a jar of saline solution for a few days/weeks or with a boveda pack, then seal it in a big mylar bag or two and leave it somewhere in a room tempera...

Aging Pu
I never thought I'd write a post about this. I never had any intention of aging my tea. However, I bought a bing and a brick, both a shou and a sheng. Tried samples, found them less than impressive, and it's like, "I wonder what aging would do to this?" So I want to store some tea for aging. Not 70 ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
You were expecting the samples to be shou pu? No wonder you were underwhelmed ;) Since I have not yet tried any teas from Crimson Lotus, I can't comment on the sampler that you tried. My only suggestion would be to keep any leftovers and try them in a few months. I found that my preferences and eve...
