Re: Yixing

Another one in the series of teapots inherited from my grandfather...it's a pretty thick hongni, and I'm looking to use it for aged baozhong. Any idea on how old this could be?

Chaozhou Pewter Tea Tray

I'm interested in getting a pewter, aluminum, or even copper tea tray like the ones found at EoT: https://essenceoftea.com/collections/tea-trays-and-plates/products/pewter-gongfu-tea-tray-round Besides EoT where else can I find them - I'm also happy to buy something off of Aliexpress, but what I don...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

I have a CZ pot that I got from Tea Habitat ages ago when I drank dancong. I don't drink much dancong anymore, and I remember that the pot did well with young sheng puerh. Do you think that it'd do with "teenager" sheng that brews up orangish (5-10 years in dry storage)? Trying to work with what I h...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Even with my favorite cakes I get around to them at best once or twice a month - I've got other cakes and oolongs to shuffle through too. If you had an option to sell the teas you like less, would you do it in order to have you favorites more often? Or is it your preference to taste different teas,...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Drinking a 2009 Dayi 8582 that's been in storage for the past 10 years - a little older now but still has some ways to go. I've only got the one cake and I've only gone through 15% of it. It's made me wonder about the strategy of buying tongs of cakes if you're just going for personal consumption - ...

Re: Yixing

I got some pots from my grandfather a while ago, and never got to posting them here or on Teachat to date them. I know that they're at least from the 80s/90s, but I'd some experts to weigh in. What kind of clay is the super dark zini? It's also got some pretty funky spout/handle misalignment and a ...

Yixing Spout Repair

I have a yixing teapot from my late grandfather - I don't know when it's from, but if I had to guess I'd say 80s or 90s. I'd like to use it again; however, he broke the spout a while ago and I'd like to get it repaired. I can't remember where I saw it, but I was thinking of making something out of m...

Any idea on if and when you'll get a restock of the 2003 Hong Kong Henry “Conscientious Prescription” 7542?

Getting back in the game

I started dabbling in puerh around 2009, taking a break after 2015 when I got busy and lived abroad until earlier this year. I've got 36 cakes in a makeshift pumidor - a shelving unit inside a hydroponic grow tent with a large container of water with an aquarium heater to keep it warm and more humid...

Re: Clay Kettles

Has anyone ever used a chaozhou kettle on top of an electric hotplate? As much as I'd love to get the whole olive charcoal set-up, I don't think it's safe to use while brewing tea at work.

I'm currently living in Washington, DC where I'm hoping the more humid climate will help my puerh faster :D

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello, I was on teachat under the same handle, but I've been told that this is a more active forum. I've been drinking tea on-and-off for the last 10 years, mostly puerh and aged oolong. I was abroad for the last two years so I haven't been able to drink much tea, but now I have been reunited with m...
