Re: Your day in tea
My scale broke today, so I won't be drinking anything nice until I replace it. Bah humbug!

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I just finished a sample of EoT's 2022 Spring Da Xue Shan Wild Red Tea from a swap buddy (6 g, 120 ml, 195F, 10/12/15/18/20/25/30/40, etc.). It had lots of jammy berries, mango, stonefruit, and florals, along with some bready and yeasty notes that reminded me of beer. It had great longevity and almo...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
aet , I also understand your points. I wouldn't think of discounts as an admission of failure on the vendor's part, but rather, as rewards for being patient, incentives for new customers, predictable times to save for returning buyers, or just attempts to move items that aren't selling for whatever...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I'm not sure if I can suggest any others, since I haven't been drinking much hongcha until quite recently. Others around here might know more. I did get a few hongcha samples from Daxue Jiadao, which I should try soon while I've got spare time. I'll report back on those. Andrew Thanks! I've liked e...

Continuing the discussion from over here (https://www.teaforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=2685) with GaoShan; trying EoT's 2020 WuDi hongcha from WuYi on an overcast and humid day. According to their website, "It’s from the wild growing Qi Zhong varietal and the producer explained to us that he wante...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
GaoShan: ha, finally found it! So I wasn't going insane after all... (or at least, this isn't proof that I was) I'll give it a try today and report back, though I'm not too good at 'tasting notes', and my preferences for hongcha are usually more on the fruity and elegant side than the chocolate-y a...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
Andrew S, have you tried the hongcha from EoT? Might be my small purchase this year. No, unfortunately; I thought that I had some packets lying around of that WuYi hongcha that they've got, but I just opened the box and discovered a rougui yancha that I have no memory of ever ordering... Andrew LOL...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
I am not branching out from my usual tea vendors due to rebates (Black Friday or otherwise), but if I know a vendor offers predictable rebates, I might plan larger purchases accordingly for products I know I want anyway, stock well, and for which the delay does not impact quality or availability. P...

Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
I have a feeling that most of you are too cool for school when it comes to these things, particularly since many of the higher-end vendors don't participate. However, I'm curious if any of you place orders to take advantage of the sales and which companies, if any, you'd recommend. I ordered some Ta...

Re: Your day in tea
I've had two yellow teas: Huo Shan Huang Ya and Mo Gan Huang Ya. The Huo Shan Huang Ya from Teavivre I remember as having nice buttery and hazelnut flavours, while the one from Yunnan Craft had lots of hazelnuts but was a little greener. Both were particularly nice bowl steeped. I honestly don't rec...

Re: Ethan Kurland
I can confirm that this is an excellent tea... With slightly longer steep times, I get the coconut cream you mentioned, though not consistently. In one session, I steeped about 2 g of leaf in 150 ml of water, approximating Ethan's parameters, but the tea was too light for me to notice much. Ethan i...

Re: Ethan Kurland
Did you use a tiny amount of leaf like Ethan does (2 g in 230 ml, if I remember correctly)? I typically use 5-6 g in 120 ml for gaoshan, though I go a bit lighter with some greens. I tried 4g 80ml 185F, 20s, 40s, 60s. The flavor was nice, but it was a bit subtle for me, so I added the rest of the s...

Re: What Balhyocha/Hwangcha are you drinking?
Know any good online stores to procure some Korean tea? must say I’ve never tried it and willing to give some a go If you don't want to wait for Morning Crane's yearly tea buy in 2024, you can get some Korean tea from What-Cha. I haven't had it, so I can't comment on the quality, but What-Cha usual...

Re: Get in here y’all, everything must go!
I'm considering getting one of the Bizen cups, along with some other pieces. I don't drink much gyokuro or sencha, so I'm wondering what it would do to other teas. I've read that this clay is high fired but that it might also mute some flavours, and it would be great to hear what people who own the...
