Re: Hand made silver pots?
I've been toying with the same idea, but i don't think i'll ever make one. I'd start with copper to learn how to form it by hammering. I suppose that a lot of the technique could be transferred to silver. But shui-ping wont be easy. Anyway if you manage to make a nice pot in copper, you can always ...

Re: Hand made silver pots?
That sounds really cool! I'm not a fan of the gaudy decorations on most of the silver teapots that I've seen. I don't know anything about making them though; do you have any experience with metal casting? Most of the readily available silver pots are pretty tacky. Not should I would even pay scrap ...

Re: Hand made silver pots?
I remember seeing someone in Taiwan having a fb page and doing just that, need to look it up. Has become quite the trend in Taiwan, hammered little silver ware, mostly spoons, cups etc. I think that is how one would create those, by hammering. Japan would be the other place I’d look for information...

Re: Hand made silver pots?
idk about hammering out a shuiping lol i think this is what you'd do: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost-wax_casting I originally thought of casting a replacement lid for one of my pots but than came across some videos of raising hollow vessels. It seems like a better option. It would be pretty coo...

Hand made silver pots?
I’ve been considering getting into making metal teapots with the hopes of eventually making some in 99% silver in shui ping/bale ROC/f1 styles.
Anyone know much about making silver pots? Or have links to relevant info for them?

Re: Yixing
Just got this 120ml beauty. Looks to be early 70’s Hong ni. It should be an interesting comparison to the late 70’s 120ml that I’ve been using daily for the past 2.5mo.

Re: Duanni clay - underrated clay?
I finally got my hands on a decent early 80’s duan ni pot. So far I’ve have good results with cheap canned 80’s oolong. It seem to accentuate the aged character while smoothing out the roughness. I’m gonna test it with a number of other teas before I dedicate to anything. The clay probably pales in ...

Re: What to look for in young sheng for aging potential?
+1 for M. Ideally you should already have years worth of teas you can enjoy now before you even consider long term investing. Your safest bet for not wasting $$$ is to buy 7-10yr old cakes that are already showing signs of good aging. YQH along with some tongs of daily drinker factory teas with humi...
