Re: Chaozhou/Shantou
wave_code Do you happened to know if the leaf mark chop was commonly use in late qing period? I have been looking at information on the leaf mark and couldn’t find much information aside from its commonly use on porcelains. Late Qing > ROC > vintage. Seen during all of these... Modern too, though t...

Re: How much tea is too much tea?
This reminds me of the green tea extract fad about 15 years ago. Rather than drink green tea, people would consume a highly concentrated extract (it’s anyone’s guess whether it really came from green tea). Consuming a concentrated extract of tea is as immoderate as consuming 4 liters of iced tea a ...

I’ve only had it with wild or feral Taiwanese oolongs. I’ve had a similar sensation with pu but it has been from contact with camphor wood.

Re: Drippy spouts?
Apart from “peeing” the tea out of its spout, which is inline with teatray’s other Freudian teapot I am yet to discover the Freudianness of that other pot  but will look more imaginatively next time I use it. I saw R2-D2 in that one, if it helps. Andrew Does it take batteries? It looks lik...

Nice pear skin Emu Baisao so true about skillful pour. Everytime I look at the light hitting the surface on mine, and touch its texture, I am moved by its artistry and beauty. 🍃 They are stunners. The pour is mesmerizing too. I'm so glad you have one too. Some kyusu are inappropriate for brewing ba...

Re: Drippy spouts?
I bought one and, comparing notes with this thread, I'm starting to think Jinpachi Ogawa teapots are generally poor quality. Or at least, there is a high chance that you get one which is of poor quality. I did not see this thread before my purchase. Maybe it would have dissuaded me from getting one...

Re: Electric Kettles
Has anyone used the kettle sold here? https://www.walmart.com/ip/Beautiful-1-7L-One-Touch-Electric-Kettle-White-Icing-by-Drew-Barrymore/587407613 I found it intriguing that it has settings for different types of tea and it looks aesthetically appealing. I haven’t used it but a couple of possible is...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou
Baisao and Bok Have you figured out the red coating on the outside of some chaozhou pots? It reminds me of zini coated hongni yixing wares. Guess the popularity of red over orange/brown might have something to do with it, but then there is also brown coated Shantou, so... remains a murky affair. Hi...

Re: Facebook vendor: Chemical Free Purple Clay Exchange
I don't think it is so much about pots in general needing to pour fast and clean to make good tea, particularly high quality teas. Many dedicated tea friends can ultimately work with the quirks and charms of older pots to make most teas work, and work well, enjoying this process. But if I buy a mod...

@teatray, I don’t see anything wrong with that pour from LeoFox’s copy. I’d be interested in seeing how you pour.LeoFox wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 11:05 amVideo here - note it is 140 mlShine Magical wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 9:51 amIs it considered rude to ask to see a video of the water pouring from the teapot
