Re: Tetsubin

Thanks for your replies, pantry and Bok! Looking forward to making tea with it today, in that case. :D

Re: Tetsubin

Thank you to everyone who's posted suggestions on lessening rust spots inside the testsubin. The attached picture is the worst spot in mine after several instances of boiling tea leaves, as well as the suggestion of lemon water followed by tea leaves. Is there a certain point at which you guys just ...

Re: Yixing

DailyTX Is the pot on the left in your first pic from Chawang Shop? I think you may have mentioned it when I posted another one of their zhuni pots a few months ago. I've been more curious about the clay recently. For the price, I assumed it can't really be zhuni (much less lao zhuni), but it does ...

Re: Yixing

~95 ml modern zhuni pot from Chawang Shop. I use this pot for aged sheng. The clay has very subtle wrinkles-- almost more of a shimmer-- that I find very difficult to take pictures of. The light this morning just happened to work to get them to show up in a photograph.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Gambled on a bing of the 2003 CNNP (logo) Mengsong from YS. It literally *just* arrived from China but I had a rough day so decided to try it despite probable jet lag. I’m two infusions in using a zhuni (...) pot from Chawangshop and actually this tea seems pretty great. Not the most complex, but it...

Re: Yixing

Chadrinkincat, you may be right! I don’t remember this being on Jing’s site, but it seems consistent with their xiaopin Yixing aesthetic a few years ago. I can’t remember if the guy I bought it from said where he got it; I just thought it looked good. It’s interesting how much the Western-accessible...

Re: Yixing

Had nice light and a nice, borrowed camera this morning, so felt inspired to take some pictures. :) This is a ~100 ml pot I purchased from a TeaChat member a few years ago. It was represented as being heini, but as you can see here, it's not black but very dark brown. I've read so many conflicting t...

Re: Yixing

Bok, definitely a sloppy repair! It’s too bad but I suppose these things happen. Chadrinkincat, good news on the lid. ;) I’d have to double check on black dots and the pot is unfortunately a few hours away from me—the picture of the lid is a good representation of the appearance of the clay, though....

Re: Yixing

Thanks for the response, Chadrinkincat!

Good call—the knob does indeed appear to have been broken off and glued back on. Didn’t occur to me that it might not be the original. Or do you think this pot may be an imperfect copy of the ones in your pictures?

Re: Yixing

I'm helping a friend catalog her parents' Japanese pottery collection and we found a Yixing pot lurking among the chawan. :) Any thoughts? Her parents lived in Japan from approximately 1969 to 1972. We're assuming this is when they acquired the pot, but don't know for sure that they didn't travel to...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

The results look good! I have this pot, too, so there’s a fourth. :) I haven’t noticed the sourness you described, but I’ve been using the pot for Liu Bao, Liu An, and occasional shou Pu Erh, so the tea may be overpowering it. (Hopefully it’s that and not my palate being oblivious! :))

Re: Oolong Vendor Topic

Thanks, Victoria! I saw the same thing on his site. :) I’m almost out of tea from my last order from him, so I’ll at least stock back up on Dong Ding from Leafy Green relatively soon and let you guys know how it goes.

Re: Oolong vendor topic

Has anyone in the US purchased HY Chen’s teas from Leafy Green? If so, how was your experience? Also, does anyone know if Shin Cheng Feng will still accept North American orders for teas not available through Leafy Green?

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi all, my name is Chris. I posted on TC a few times way back in the day but never too much. Happened to find this forum earlier this weekend— now I know why TC has been so quiet for so long. How long have you been drinking tea? Although I mostly(ish) grew up in the Pacific Northwest, my famil...
