Re: Yixing

A pot I’ve been liking a lot since a long time, but have always put on hold for a variety of reasons, finally in my collection! 1960s Hongni Bianyuan. A shape rarely seen, but very beautiful in its simplicity. My second favourite teapot shape. Also, just for the clay I’m willing to put my snobbery a...

Re: Yixing

I picked up a super dirty Xi Shi pot recently with the thought of Nian Gao Tu in mind. Might be due to tea stain, the whole pot had a light brown hue on the outside. After a deep cleaning session, it appears to be Hong Ni possibly from the late 70s - early 80s. What do you all think? I apologize fo...

Re: looking for any info on the quality/authenticity of this pot. Thanks a lot!!

The vendor isn't an yixing focused one, is a generic antique vendor, and he surely didn't clean the pot prior to selling it/photographing it so the dirt on the bottom of the pot could be dirt maybe. Actually the pot didn't seem that bad clay wise and, in my humble and surely not expert opinion, I s...

Re: looking for any info on the quality/authenticity of this pot. Thanks a lot!!

Mèng Chén (孟臣) but I have so far not yet seen any version attributed to him in seal script, so far I've ever only seen handwritten signing. But obviously the pot is much too young for being his work. The sign in the leaf on the left could be Xiāng (香), have seen that once that there was an additi...

Doesn’t look promising, the attempts at faking patina looks as if done to pass it off as antique… clay doesn’t look like Yixing to me, at least not good quality.

Re: EsonTea: DaYuLing 95k

Does anyone know the status of 95K or any of the other farms? Did not check recently, but you can reasonably assume that most of what is left of DYL tea is staying inside the country... a lot of what you see marketed as DYL is pretty close to the area, so taste wise it can be the same(or better, de...

Re: Probably a nixing teapot

such a hater Bok  it can't all be antique zhuni. I am curious what your direct experience with it is- newer or older pots and what you were brewing with it? I'm not trying to call you wrong here - we all have our opinions and tastes. Let's say it like this – if I were wanting to drink th...

I like how it brews my shu every morning for last 3 years.
That is the key point here. Many pots that are no good for anything else work for Shu.

Re: Probably a nixing teapot

Pretty unlikely anyone fakes these... so should be what it looks like : ) Thank you! And ,,these,, do you think are of decent quality? Or a low mass production not worth to try? :) I mean, for a modern teapot I would say this looks not too well made, but since I am not knowledgeable about older pot...
