Re: Yixing and Thailand?

Does anyone know the story behind why there is a connection? I've heard a lot of "just-so" stories, such as that Thailand preferred burnished Yixing, and that the Yixing teapots with metal rims, etc. often ended up there because teasets with precious metal in them were not considered sophisticated,...

OCTO Have you seen my last post? I don't mean to be impatient, but sometimes posts get lost in the shuffle. https://www.teaforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=24785#p24785 - I have drilled a bigger hole in my pot's lid now. Very gently by hand and with multiple breaks to clean the hole with water. The pour s...

Re: Is tetsubin overrated? Looking for a small portable induction plate.

I'm surprised it takes so long to heat up your tetsubin. How many Watts is your hot plate? My 1000W hot plate can hear up any of my ceramic kettles in ~15 minutes at the most.

Re: Future Sale project: Qing/ROC Pearskin Zhuni

Personally I'm not sure how I feel about the wrapping, but I would love to see it after some heavy use. I am glad you haven't touched the lid. To me it shows its true age and use without impeding performance or Overall appearance. All up it looks great and whoever it ends up with will no doubt be h...

faj That's really an interesting statement. They've got some pots I would maybe even pay about $2000 for some day, and I don't think that many users here would be interested in these pots at all. We are small fish in the world of Chinese tea and teaware. Indeed we are. I find it a privilege to have...

Re: Yixing

Things are always cheaper when the purchaser is the one identifying and authentic the piece. You still don’t know if your jar is authentic. 🙄 Yeah, that seems to be true for antique goods. Any idea how I could check the authenticity of these things? Other than educating myself for years... :D The s...

Re: Yixing

It's "Proven" to be Mid Qing? From a Trusted source? All right, then. It's still weird in my opinion since you cannot even use this jar, and with teapots it would be a dealbreaker for most people. I'd never spend so much money on this. Your not getting it. A replica is worthless. A legit mid qing j...

Re: Yixing

Mark-S 40ml is pretty much only useful for CZ style brewing with cheap heavy fire oolong. Use a minimum of 5g or 7-10g for Chinese espresso Or for the opposite: very expensive Yancha or Dancong. As it is coated inside, it will be more closer to Hongni than Zini in performance. But then the workmans...

Teachronicles Yes, indeed. I find 150ml to be quite useful, personally. My ideal session includes 8-10 grams of leaf, perfect for 150ml! I have another smaller Zhuni in consideration, but I really love this Zini as a whole. Who knows, maybe a Zhuni & Zini combo is in the works?!

This antique Zini really caught my eye as well! In current discussion, and hot pursuit, of this beauty. I personally love the middle ground qualities of Zini, as compared to other clays. ./download/file.php?id=5329 Some exquisite taste you got there... be prepared to empty your account :) Gong ju i...
