Re: There's no point in rating teas

After thinking about more, I could see how it could at least be interesting to see what you thought of a tea before to see how your tastes have evolved, if you can avoid getting too analytical and it detracting from the experience.

Re: There's no point in rating teas

I have recently come to this conclusion. My tastes change too much, even in the span on 6 months, and tea drinking is an ephemeral experience that can be affected by a lot of outside factors. Keeping a tea log and rating teas is not helpful if you are intending to say anything other than "this is g...

Re: Yixing

Here's a pot I got a while back. It's a modern yixing from mudandleaves. As far as I can tell it's hongni, of ok quality. I like the shape a lot and its the only pot I have in this shape. Pot https://imgur.com/gallery/2SoOz - Size of pot in ml or oz.:150ml - Clay type: hongni - Firing temperature: h...

Yixing social media accounts

Do you guys know of any Instagram or other social media accounts that have a lot of yixing (mostly interested in vintage or early period stuff) posts? Just looking for some gawking material. I already know of kyarazens, which has some nice stuff on it.

Re: Yixing

Hi! You can get yixing teacups in places like dragon tea house. But before you do that: why would you like to get yixing tea cups? In my experience, yixing teacups are usually pretty bad: 1) usually the clay quality is very very low 2) usually they are mass produced and have little artistic value 3...

Re: Pumidor discussion

My apartment is normally 80F, but 27% humidity in the winter (according to my new hygrometer). Putting Boveda packs into crocks did not work, the packs are already dried out 2 weeks later. The crocks are too porous. Putting your puer into crocks is a bad idea based on my experience, I regret follow...

Re: Oolong vendor topic

Is their another vendor with better quality for the price? Or perhaps similar value but different in a good way (unique flavours, but still greener style)? Thanks. For buttery sweet rich LiShan I’d get that from Floating Leaves, Te Company or HY Chen (Special grade). Also, Living Tea , he is now ba...

Re: Tea Trays!

Trying now to count the various trays I've used over time: at least two like these: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8335/8450167997_834eddd7eb_n.jpg when in frequent use in the office at work, where it is not trivial to rinse/dry it daily because there is no kitchen, I had trouble with molding; when...

Re: US Vendor sourcing from WuyiOrigins?

This isn't always true. Our Taiwanese Oolong farmer sells online as well, and we were able to lower our margins enough to match his prices, while providing faster and cheaper shipping. He prefers it this way, because he wants to focus on producing quality teas, not shipping small retail orders glob...

How do you guys pour in the water so that it doesn't disturb the shape of the gall in the teapot?

Some old porcelain

My grandma just gave this to me, she's been giving me all sorts of tea things since she learned I was into tea. The bowls were given to her by her father, and the smaller cups were her grandfather's, who she says he got from his dad. Idk how old they are, idk how to date stuff like this, maybe you g...

Re: Yixing

I think so too, but I also double checked with steanze and dr lu. It wasn't cheap so I wanted to be sure. Very nice clay! I am sure it cost a pretty penny, those pots are already not cheap in Taiwan. I myself just can not for the life of it buy a ”standard” shuiping shape, no matter how good the cl...
