@pase22 & @faj,
i thought the recent discussion here about teabags vs loose leaf was interesting, so i moved it to a relevant, recently active topic for organizational purposes: viewtopic.php?p=29417#p29417
sorry for the trouble

Re: Introduce Yourself
welcome, pase22  i'm glad you found something that works for you, but i'm curious about why coffee isn't OK anymore but tea is? i do occasionally enjoy black with milk and a touch of sugar (particularly "builder's" style), but i usually drink tea plain. just infused with plain water. as you...

Re: FS: Aged Darjeeling from 1994
this is an incredible find. an item of Epic rarity.
thanks for offering this.
to whoever snags this: imo it's best brewed as an intact unit without unwrapping. kind of like how people add pieces of aged bamboo wrapper/basket to the pot.

Re: Aging oolong? How to do it?
ok, i have to ask.. does anyone have any anecdotal evidence about tea stored in aluminized mylar bags (or similar) long term? because that's how most of my oolong tea is being "aged" right now. some has 5 years or more on it. i'm guilty of buying tea and just letting it sit unopened. some of it has ...

Re: Aging oolong? How to do it?
not to mention that over 20-30 years, there is a lot of opportunity for the tea to get contaminated by its surroundings (either liquid or vapor contamination).
dish washing liquid smell? maybe it was actually contaminated with a cleaning product or something, hah.

Re: Aging oolong? How to do it?
it makes sense that improperly processed (insufficient killgreen) tea may be set aside and forgotten about, and therefore a lot of it ends up as aged tea.
but does aging decent (or good) tea really give an inferior result??

last year, i had the pleasure of meeting the guy behind teajourney.pub (Dan Bolton) and also the author of the article you linked to (Virginia Utermohlen Lovelace). if you liked that article, her new book is well worth a read: https://www.amazon.com/dp/107770870X/ also, Tillerman wrote a blog post a...

Also, that iron egg is probably messing up the plastic kettle because it's sitting on the heating element. It's conducting heat from the element to the plastic wall.

Re: Making fake tetsubin water for cheap - just add iron egg!
To those asking about stainless steel rusting... Yes, it can happen, and it's a common problem. Stainless can be very easily contaminated with "free iron" (either iron or non-stainless steel). It's as easy as touching or rubbing a piece of normal steel on a stainless surface. It can also happen from...
