Re: Musings on Dancong…
Recently had the opportunity to taste some competition grade DanCong and it was phenomenal! Jealous! Sounds delicious. So far my venture into Dancong have been promising, but very limited in extent. What is your pot of choice for Dancong? I had good results with flat-ish Taiwanese wood fired pots a...

Re: How much tea do you consume per day?
On average it’s about 10 - 15g per day. If having friends over and serving tea, then it’s about 30g... but when tea buddies come over for a session.... things get crazy and would usually end up with more than 100g of tea consumed! This is our last session... approximately 200g of tea. That’s a 16” r...

Here are some photos of the harvest... totally forgot to snap a picture when savoring the tea... too engr...

Re: Show Off Your Teaware Displays
Did a display in February for Chinese New Year... Oh, nice collection and displays. And nice to see so many kettles. Did you season your them before using? I have a white clay Japanese kettle that I need to season with rice water, hoping it gets rid of clay taste. All 3 kettles on are currently not...

Re: Pairing yixing pots with teas
Some time ago I made a flowchart to provide initial advice on how to pair yixing pots with tea and posted it on teachat. Someone mentioned that it's gone, so I repost it here in case it can be useful. Disclaimer 1: you still want to experiment to see what works best for you. Disclaimer 2: there isn...

Re: Clay properties of different periods
Personally, I don't subscribe to a rule about older clay always being better, but there are some considerations people have not mentioned yet. I may have my time periods or years off, so please correct me if I'm mistaken: 1) Clay Processing : Prior to ROC period most clay was crushed and processed ...

Re: Yixing
Early 1900's square pot that I found at a thrift shop for $5. Total bargain considering it's unused and in perfect condition. Haven't measured it yet but I'm guessing it's around 350ml. Might be a good candidate for brewing shu. Using an antique pot for shu sorta makes me cringe though. https://ins...

Re: Yixing
New pot, just arrived today. 60s hongni shuiping 85ml. The seller actually told me it's from 58, the start of factory 1 but idk how you'd verify that. Haven't tested firing yet, soaking in water now. Will probably use for aged sheng. Do you have more photos taken of the inner lid, inner outlet hole...
