Re: Yixing

Pretty excited about this new pot. It's an early 80's jade orchid six sided pot made with heixingtu/black star clay. It's prob around 150ml. Really nicely made but shape seems a bit awkward so not sure what teas will work. Anyone have suggestions for what might work with it? https://instagram.com/p/...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

This weekend I did a soft reset of 3 pots, by keeping them suspended in boiling water for 15 minutes (used floss to keep them in the pot without touching the bottom). So next step is to marinate them in tea like Atlas is suggesting. My question is how should I brew the tea for the water? I'm ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Craftsmanship looks good on this one. Oddly I've actually come accross quite a few of these lately but they're either far too big (600ml) or mediocre details. Do you happen to know if f1 made these in 80-120ml? Yes. F1 does produce a smaller version of this pot but it’s slightly bigger than your pr...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Beautiful pot! 60's? This shape has been on my wishlist for awhile. Nope.. 80s larger version (600cc). This pot on your wish list?? Hahahaha.... how many you want to get?? I can help you source for it. It’s relatively easy to get them here. But it’s not cheap to get one with good clay and old workm...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I've been drinking shu for the last few days which is a very rare occurrence for me. I added a couple XG tuos and some random samples to a recent order in hopes that i could rekindle my fondness of shu. Used a new lower fired 120ml zini shuiping for these. 2011 XG xiao fa 10g: Still a bit of ferment...

Re: Nei Zi Wai Hong vs Zini

Curious to hear your thoughts on quality of this zini clay. Hi... It is ZiSha... doesn’t look like ZiNi to me. The clay appears aged (70s - 80s). Honestly, it’s pretty hard to comment on the quality of clay based on a photograph. Best is still to feel the texture, hand feel, weight, true color and ...

Re: Nei Zi Wai Hong vs Zini

Im looking at 2 pots. Both are green label. One is a Nei Zi Wai Hong, the other is a pure Zini. The all zini is quite a bit more expensive. This puzzles me. Did they use inferior clay on the Nei Zi Wai Hongs? I would think as far as brewing goes, they would be the same. I have came across green lab...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Finally finished off a cake of FTT8653-5. I like the minty camphor profile of this tea. It's prob time to place another order from MXtea. I prob won't be ordering many tou when I do cuz the 2 boxes ones I got are pretty mediocre. Likely just stick to cakes. Anyone try any other FT or XY cakes from ...

Re: Nei Zi Wai Hong vs Zini

A number of more informed collectors have said nzwh are often made with lower quality clay so that prob accounts for some price difference. Also Imho nzwh tend to look a bit more sloppy with red coating and as such I wouldn't pay as much for one. I'm prob not the only one that feels that way so that...

Re: Suitability of (this) high-fired hongni for mid/aged sheng?

Why wouldn't it be good for mature pu? Sure its prob not super porous due to firing but that doesn't mean you can't use it with aged puerh. If it's HK stored than your likely gonna taste more storage initially but once that fades it'll have more flavor throughout the rest of steeps. I use to use la...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

@raggamuffin Use it as a cha hai? That's literally the same thing as using it as teapot except that it won't get as hot. That's some terrible customer service from them. I never continue using a pot if it negatively effects tea. It should have some muting but shouldn't add nasty flavors that weren't...

Re: Accelerated seasoning success

This pot is a prime example of why I always recommend spending more for a realiable F1 instead of buying a cheap generic 90's pot. Or at very least buy used one so that you can ask seller how actual pot u receive performs.
