Re: How much tea is too much tea?

Assuming by cup they mean 240 ml, the man would've been drinking 3,8 l of tea daily. Now that's definitely too much tea. Whether quality matters or not is uncertain. The article says oxalate is found in black tea, meaning it's not naturally present in C. Sinensis leaves (as it is in spinach and ber...

Re: Mei leaf

You should listen to this guy with regards to buying what he's saying. that just seems silly considering they are TRYING TO SELL THE TEA! No idea of the quality of his teas, no desire to do business with someone who I know I can't trust which is where I'm at from patently silly claims like his 1600y...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

P.S. maybe someone in Kyoto can get us Ippodo’s special select gyokuro, only available at their main store in October. That is the best gyokuro I have had so far. 🍃. Uhh...I'm actually visiting Kyoto Oct 26-31 so if you're serious I could see what I can do. Yes serious, they run out fast. Thank you...

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

So my dad just got back from a visit to Japan and he brought me back some shincha! (At least he thought it was shincha.) Edit: Oh...also the great big writing down the middle simply reads Uji Shincha....so.... puzzling out meaning for the sticker not so much needed  Extremely amateur translat...

Re: Article: 8 Popular Tea Bag Companies That Contain Illegal Amounts of Deadly Pesticides

It isn’t only pesticides you should be concerned about in your teas, either. A lot of these teas contain ingredients like soy, and natural flavours, which are GMO-containing and pose a great health risk to those that consume them.

Re: Drippy spouts?

Ha, just from the opening post I was wondering if it was Jinpachi, guess why.... Anyways while it was mildly disappointing because Toru talks up the poor and had some yt vids of old ones in the end it doesn't much bother me as for mine it only drips if I cut it off mid-pour, something I'm not incli...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Ideas: If you're not preheating the thicker glass has more mass to suck away heat? Taller and narrow shape on the glass provides more surface area for heat transfer? Obviously you'd need it for the poor but were you putting the lid on the gaiwan or leaving it off during the brew?

Does anyone know if tea tasting / sampling is an option at Thes du Japon store in Tokyo?
With the new website I see this page about the store and "It is possible to taste our teas" so there we go :)

Re: The art of Kung fu tea

Thankfully it has not appeared as such in this thread, but, at the risk of sounding priggish, I am quite tired of seeing the term gong fu used as a verb or gerund. I enjoy gong fu brewing not I enjoy gong fuing Shudder. I for one enjoy embiggening the language with perfectly cromulent words :twiste...

No personal experience but the 2nd slideshow here https://japaneseteasommelier.wordpress. ... ten-years/ looks like there's some brewing going on :) I suppose the way to know for sure would be to fire an email his way.

Re: Looking for places to browse: Tokyo

Yamada Sou prices vary quite a bit, depending on uniqueness of kyusu and artists pricing on select pots they consider superior. What price range did you see? around 300$. Seemed to look very similar to the smurf blue ones on AN. One of them was wood fired, which I believe is normally ore expensive ...

Re: Novak & Randova Teaware

A little bark teapot I was lucky enough to grab from one of the offerings on their site, which normally seem to be blink and you miss it :| threebark.jpg Nice bit of colour variation and it holds about 100ml which is around as small as I go. Glazed inside so it's a workhorse and gets everything but ...
