Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

polezaivsani I got it from HK, from a specialty grocery site actually. I just ordered this one bag to try them out. most of what they have is everyday stuff- lychee tea, lower grade oolongs, so on. most of it is still in the dim-sum type range but they do also have pu including a few older ones. wh...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

polezaivsani I also had a sample from that Sea Dyke basket and recall wanting to like it a lot more than I actually did. it wasn't bad, but didn't feel so strongly about picking more up. then again, sometimes it takes more than one session which was all I had to figure out how I really feel about a...

Re: Tetsubin

nice tip! these seem like good starter tetsubin, as well as for a smaller/lighter option. I have a good stainless steel camping kettle I've been using for when I want continuous boil water over my electric kettle and for boiling spent leaves- its only 1l and its actually been a fine size for me for ...

Re: Chanting Pines

in case anyone is looking to make a pricier purchase in the next few day, I have a coupon code for 5% off (which can be quite a lot if you get a fancy pot!) that expires on the 5th I won't be using. I'm not totally sure but its worth a try to see if its transferable- message me and I'm happy to shar...

Re: Aged White Tea

I have tried a limited number of sheng pu-erh teas between a couple years old to almost 20. I have really liked none of them. I feel I would prefer older teas, but finding the needle in the haystack seems daunting and expensive for someone with no tea friends with stashes and no connections. And if...

Re: Aged White Tea

I think i'll take a chance on a few cheapo cakes and see how it goes, and if I'm liking things get some better quality cakes from some different vendors. I think part of what grabs me is that aged white, whether it started as some sort of marketing thing or not, to me fulfill the potential promise o...

I've also seen a square version of this a couple times too which I think is also pretty catching- https://www.chawangshop.com/early-2000s ... 210cc.html

Re: chataku

very nice looking Baisao ! I like the light and hammered look I've seen of a lot of the probably older copper or tin ones but these are very nice. I especially like the sakura shape and how detailed even the bottom is. some very nice chataku show up in these videos from Knjitea- https://www.youtube....

ah neat, thanks for that! The idea of the motif possibly also resembling a reishi mushroom makes me like it even more.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

was eyeing up one of these pots the other day. if anyone knows more about the history of this shape and pattern I'm curious if it had any specific meaning/origin or if it was just ornamental artistry that became a classic shape. I really like this shape - nicely proportioned fang gu type pots are a ...

Re: Aged White Tea

I love stem/twig teas - this one sounds really interesting. do you find you need to use a lot more volume for brewing though? I have some loose sun dried white tea I bought about 3 years ago and have inadvertently aged a bit by just not drinking it much and forgetting the second bag of it in storage...

Re: Recommend loose leaf raw puer storage

I'm looking to move a lot of teas right now to canisters from zip packs or and plastic bags, probably going with a bunch of the generic square-ish alu tins for bricks and loose or tuo type teas in round canisters with extra internal lids. everything will be lined with paper though too. For paper lin...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

Since this summer I've gotten packages of tea from HK, Gungdong, USA, no problems with any of them. I've got two more that will get here when they get here from HK and also from Malaysia once post there resumes. I did find that one tea I ordered no longer is offered to be shipped here by the seller,...

we don't have a thread for them here yet I don't believe? got some nice ones to show? post 'em here! I've been having a look around for some chataku lately because not only are they nice to look at but I they seem handy for some changes in my brewing style I've been messing with. for those of us who...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

the one Ying Kee liu an I have also doesn't give me so much of a buzz or cha qi effect compared to the sun yi shun baskets I have had - which I actually kind of like since its a tasty tea and sometimes I do want liu an without feeling like I need to go bike 20 miles. it sounds like you are maybe jus...
