Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
First time drinking 2011 Yunnan Sourcing "Chen Yun Yuan Cha" Raw. Also first time breaking into a 400g cake (showed it to my wife and she was like “wow, how much is that!?”. Haha pretty inexpensive actually ($72) when you consider its good for 60-80 sessions . 60-80 crap teas or god forbid lattes at...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
For those of you who have been regularly drinking pu'er for years, do you find that you're enjoying both sheng and shou, just one of them, alternating between preferring one over the other (etc.)? I started with sheng and couldn't get enough of it for 8 months or so...then I tried some decent shou a...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
I’ve watched many of the TeaDB videos; in this one James was pretty decisive about aging in the west. It was very informative. Listening to James talk about 10+ years aging I realize that I’m not aging tea (for improvement). I have around 15 cakes, about half of these Sheng and I’m not intending to ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
First taste of the 2018 Yunnan Sourcing Warm Fuzzies this morning. I liked it, a lot, but nothing in particular flavour wise that I can point to. It tasted similar to some other ripes I've had (all happen to be from YS, and I've only ever had 5-10 samples or opened cakes so far), with a bit more com...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
Sorry if I forgot to mention earlier, I am using Boveda packs in the pumidor (small wine fridge). I'm going to keep it upstairs for now as it had only been a few days. I'll monitor and move it if something seems off.

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
Should I put the pumidor back in the basement? I moved it up hoping to bump up the RH a few points from 63 avg. but as it’s dropped I’m thinking I should just leave it in the basement

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
So I moved my pumidor from the cold and dry basement to a closet upstairs...two days after and although the temp went up about 4C the humidity humidity went down a couple % points. Thoughts? Is that surprising to you? I would expect a basement to have higher relative humidity than the anything abov...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
2013 Yi Dian Hong. Third new shou in a week or so. Unfortunately, all three of them have been rather meh. Going to have to go back to a tried and true this afternoon to make sure I'm not losing my appreciation for shou. I sometimes lose appreciation for a type of tea. Usually comes back but not alw...

Re: Daily Tea Routines
I've been drinking pu'er on most days during last couple years. For not much reason other than getting hold of better sheng cakes prior to trying good specimens of other kinds. Fortunately i got tasty greens this spring and for a good couple months i started my day with a short session of green tea...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
I was just talking to one of the larger vendors about how tea blogging goes now, how it's essentially over, because people would rather check out a set of Instagram photos with a 50 word description than read 500-1000 words. I essentially never write a post that short, so who knows who could make i...

Re: Do you eat any snacks with your tea?
I have my morning ripe pu-erh on an empty stomach (after a glass of water). I've had the same tea after eating, couldn't really discern a big difference in taste. I often have a bit of 85% dark chocolate before an afternoon session (sheng or sencha). I'm not eating while drinking, just beforehand. F...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Was feeling a little warm last night and I was about to cut the lawn before it rained, so I decided to try some iced roasted dong ding from Camellia Sinensis. I hadn't tried this method before (iced any loose leaf teas that is) so I simply brewed the tea per normal parameters and poured over a large...
