Re: Experiments with High-Mountain O

Never gets bitter for me, possibly it’s your water? I’m assuming you mean double digit steeping time, right.. My favorites for LiShan are Te Company, Floating Leaves and this years HY Chen’s Special LiShan (his regular I found so so). p.s. What are you steeping in? I enjoy floating leaves as well, ...

Interesting Victoria. I know we use some of the same vendors. When I get steeps into the double digits, it gets too bitter for me. Never gets bitter for me, possibly it’s your water? Re: Experiments with High-Mountain O

Gaoshan just doesn’t have the steep count of pu. Plain and simple.
I use 5 grams to 100ml. 20s,30s,45s,1min,1:30,2min, 5 min.
The last 2 steeps are just to squeeze out what I can for the sake of trying

2000 Hong ni Jin Zhong $80

A very nice pot that I dont need anymore! It is made by the artist Zhou Lan-Fang in year 2000 from a high fired Hongni. The shape is called Jin Zhong (Golden Bell) and it holds 125ml. The price paid was 145usd (plus shipping) from Hou De Asian Art. single hole filter. This pot has been used with she...

Re: Silver teapots?

Went looking for vendors again (this thread got me thinking about them again) ys and crimson lotus are the only vendors I can find. Anyone ever purchased a silver pot from one of them?

Re: Silver teapots?

Been thinking of getting one myself. One of my concerns has been upkeep. How do you keep it from tarnishing? Haven’t found too many vendors either. I think the developing patina is actually quite pretty, cleaned up silver looks a bit too shiny for my taste. If you see antique Japanese teapots for e...

Re: Are there any modern Zhuni pots?

Excellent conversation folks! Really glad I’ve gotten to read the info here.
I have a zhaozhuang “zhuni” pot. I am currently on the hunt for a Lao. I am not clear on how the difference can be told by sight. I’ve found that anything I find in pictures that could be a tell is inconsistent. Any pointers?

Re: what do you think of this Zhuni?

Ya, I do have a few older hongni. Looking to take it to the next level Lao zhuni pots were made during Qing and ROC. Also within lao zhuni there are variations in quality :) But if you can find a real one for $500 let me know ;) More likely that you'll pay at least $800-1000+ , depending on conditi...

Re: what do you think of this Zhuni?

sampletea was where I pretty much began my tuition. while they have had good pots in the past, never have they sold an authentic old zhuni pot. Most are modern 2000+ date made. If you are near Hastings, MN, maybe we can arrange a future tea date and you can see in person real lao zhuni... Best of l...

what do you think of this Zhuni?

Ive been planing to add a zhuni (non modern) to my collection. I usually wait for pots to drop into my lap, but today I decided to see if I could find one. I came across this. Trusted vendor and the clay looks right to my relatively novice eye. Id like to know your opinion. Thanks :D http://www.samp...

Re: Longjing: Sources and Brewing

Im not huge into Long Jing, but I always keep some around. Ive usually get it from Yunnan sourcing. Ive been pretty happy with quality to cost ratio. Maybe one day ill spring for some Hojo or Tea Habitat offering. I make mine gongfu style with 175F water. I can squeeze 4 pretty good infusions out of...
