Re: Where to get teapot filter?
I have a lot of fun trying to find products on Taobao. I did a little searching and found some sources on taobao: TB2FHW8j3nH8KJjSspcXXb3QFXa_!!1950196777.jpg https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.34.43db3ce5SWePGg&id=569251127036&ns=1&abbucket=10#detail Interestingly you can find the spir...

Re: Teapot comparison set from Lin's
It is an interesting concept. What's the set name? Unfortunately when I click the link I get forwarded to a different domain, probably since I'm in the US.

Re: Travel with Teaware Like a Pro
Looks good! You've got me thinking I should travel more. Its been a while since I've needed to pack a tea set. Last summer I did some camping and brought a small travel set in a zipper bag.

Re: Electric Kettles
I'm a big fan of using an electric induction cooker with a normal metal kettle. I feel it separates the responsibilities well. There should be no reason to throw out a kettle just because some electronics break. I also enjoy having a selection of lighter and better designed kettles.

Re: Counterfeit tea
In Fujian sometimes people will add sugar (If I remember correctly, at about a 1% by weight of wet leaves) during the processing. I've been told that the easiest point is before the leaves are rolled since they are already wet, pliable, and can dissolve and absorb the sugar. The result is that the t...

Re: Essence of Tea _ Wuyi Yancha
But - it does not justify the so much higher price (That goes for me personally, as I am in Taiwan, so in a privileged postion) I found this comment interesting. I would say that Taiwanese oolongs are my second favorite class of tea after yancha. What probably holds me back is the cost! For equal p...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Having some zhengyan huang pian. I found them in my desk drawer, and though I would try them again. They give me some of the feeling of young puer mixed with the familiar wuyishan flavors.

Late Frost in Wuyishan
Over the weekend some areas of Wuyishan experienced a late frost. Although the tea trees see snow during the winter, freezing temperatures will damage the new leaves. I don't yet know how widespread the damage is, and how much of an effect it will have on this year's harvest. My family members all w...

I'm a fan of the "new posts" link. I bookmarked it in my bookmark bar, and click on it when I want to check. Seems to work well.

Re: Transparency in tea transactions
In terms of guangxi, and having lived here for a while, I often wonder how all these new, often small outfits are supposed to get all their uniquely sourced teas from old men living on xyz mountain... I've wondered the same thing. I know for a fact that if I went to Wuyishan by myself without any c...

Re: Reasons for not recommending vendors....
I've never encountered the brewing parameter thing in China, but it is something companies like Teavana were famous for. I think vendors have other odd behavior & blind spots. Hesitancy and/or inability to describe teas well, for example. I sure do. I hope to improve over time, but am happy with my ...

Re: Exchange Rates & Banking Fees: Buying Internationally
At times that I've needed to send rather large amounts to China, I've done a wire transfer to a trusted family member in China. We got the best exchange rate by sending it as USD and having the Chinese bank do the conversion. The Chinese bank's rate was much better than the US bank. If I remember co...

Re: Teforia Brewer (for office use)
It works with both pods and your own tea. I also forgot to mention that the brewing chamber is plastic instead of glass which is a big con for me since that affects the flavor too. Interesting. I thought that they did a glass inside plastic outside design. I've never seen one in person. When they d...
