@Bok nailed this one. It is most likely a NWLJ pot.

Re: Yixing
I picked up a super dirty Xi Shi pot recently with the thought of Nian Gao Tu in mind. Might be due to tea stain, the whole pot had a light brown hue on the outside. After a deep cleaning session, it appears to be Hong Ni possibly from the late 70s - early 80s. What do you all think? I apologize for...

Re: Probably a nixing teapot
@tolean looks like a lovely set to own and study. I hope this is not too off topic, it seems three out of four famous Chinese potteries have a space in the tea world. Anyone own the mysterious fourth type of pottery? Not sure the English name, but the Chinese name is 荣昌陶 from
ChongQing, China.
ChongQing, China.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I am not too familiar with how Rou Gui is made either. Both teas have a similar smoky and sweet profile which led me to think it maybe process related. The Wuyi one has more body and the flavor is more consistent. The Fujian one has a lighter body and the after mouth taste has a slight greenness lik...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Doing a comparison tasting of FuJian Rou Gui (left) vs. Wuyi Rou Gui (right) today. Fujian is known for their Dan Cong, my guess is Dan Cong leaves processed using a Rou Gui technique to make this tea. It's quite interesting

Re: Ode to the Kyusu
@pizzapotamus thank you for looking into this kyusu. I too guess it could be made by the father. The pot seems unused, and the clay texture looks less glossy in comparison to the pair of pots from the tweet.

Re: Ode to the Kyusu
I have been working on deciphering the chop from this Kyusu with not much success. So far, I have found a few similar style ones on Asian auction sites with this name: 梅原光山. Anyone recognizes this chop or know who made this Kyusu? The carving seems quite good.

Re: Question on stockpiled clay
This is a loaded question, here is a tiny bit of information I gathered…there are different mine sites in the HuangLongShan area. Factory one mainly used mine #4. Most clays used from late 1970s onward were blended to get color consistency and met demand of the market. 1990s started to have private ...

Re: Your day in tea
It feels like autumn weather in the west, and the leaves outside reminded me of Oriental Beauty. Today's brew is a vintage Oriental Beauty, one pot and one bowl

I would also keep using it. Just warm the pot before each use to prevent thermal shock.

Re: Pair of celadon cups
It’s funny sometimes, I’ve been sourcing these in Taiwan and found out later that they can be a lot cheaper in Singapore(of all places!). That's interesting, I would imagine Singapore pricing is similar to HK. But then, those are old commoner's tea cups. With the amount of southern Chinese people m...
