I don't have any experience with TeaVivre's high mountains, but how much are you willing to spend on a 'daily' variety?
It’s true that “premium” and “daily” are a matter of taste. I would spend about $15/oz for premium Alishan and will hope to pay $10/oz for a daily one...

Anybody here tried TeaVivre’s high mountains?
They offer spring Ali Shan 100g(3.5 oz) for 23$ I assume it’s not on the highest end but is it ok?
I’m just looking for a new source for daily Alishan, would also be grateful for any leads

Re: Experiments with High-Mountain O

I use 6g/100ml across all oolong teas and am experimenting with hotter water (just off the boil) and significantly shorter steep times. The results are very appealing. That said 1) as mentioned, gaoshan will not give you anywhere near the number of steeps as a say puer (just as a silver needles wil...

This doesn't line up at all with my experience of Yin Zhen. The good ones I've had (TeaHong, Song Tea) last for many steeps more than I'm willing to drink. At least 10, whereas gaoshan (of decent quality: most recently H.Y. Chen's Da Yu Lin) never gets past 7 or 8.
How do you brew yours?

Re: Help With My Teapot

...the shine/reflection of the clay is weird for yixing... Sorry for bumping in, I just have a question about just that. A friend just gave this pot as a gift for the holiday. obviously very modern from last years but was wondering about shine/reflection. (he is certainly not an expert but I know h...

Experiments with High-Mountain O

For some time now I have been experimenting with high-quality Lishan (and some jin xuan for practice). I'm getting great results, but the great taste doesn't extend to the fourth steep. I use about 4grams for 100ml pot. First and second steeps (about 40sec each) are amazing. Third brew (45-50 sec) i...

By appointment. But I think its best to contact them and ask as they are having something like a "tasting month" till Jan 7 and perhaps have preference for certain days etc

A bump on a recently purchased pot

I have recently received this modern hungni shuiping purchased from a reputable seller. (Price was about 100$). I have noticed a tiny bump inside. Looks like a touch of clay that hasn’t been smoothen or a drop of clay that just dropped. I don’t know. What do think? How serious is this? I’m somewhat ...

Re: Are there any modern Zhuni pots?

It is important to add that most stuff that's called "modern zhuni" is actually just hongni (as in the case of this pot from lukevcent), I have not seen what I've called "proper modern zhuni" offered in the western market. And a pot made of "proper modern zhuni" would cost several hundred dollars a...

Re: Are there any modern Zhuni pots?

Absolutely no chance it's real lao zhuni--it's a modern hongni (red clay). The clay still performs well but it definitely is NOT lao zhuni. Zhuni just means red clay anyway so that is what you're getting, technically! On forums we call the new stuff modern zhuni. I guess they perform similarly but ...

Are there any modern Zhuni pots?

The eBay seller lukevecent has been discussed in TeaChat quite a few times and mentioned as selling decent Yixing pots. Usually very modern and made by young craftsmen but decent. I have purchased one from him and pretty satisfied though I'm quite a beginner when it comes to questions of clay qualit...
