Re: Tea Dreams
I had this tragic dream that the teapot I have coming from buyjp4u arrived broken. It was totally salvageable or so it seemed but when I reached into the bock to pull it out it fell apart in my hands. I woke up and was so sad until I realized it wasn’t real.

Re: A bit of gossip about TC...
I've browsed around and it doesn't look super active, but certainly not dead like TC. Forums are pretty dead in general, but for now I think we're doing a good job in keeping it alive and interesting enough. Any forum will only be as good as its members and their participation. In that sense I am h...

Re: Looking for a pot with specific criteria
Looking for a pot with specific criteria: Im looking for a pot that holds 300-350ML Glazed on the inside at least. Porcelain would be optimal. Must have built in multihole filter. Not stainless. Any suggestions? Hibiki-An has a nice looking porcelain kyusu that I’ve been eyeing as a basic pot (have...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
Back then I assumed it was because of the random chemicals they add to the tap water for various reasons and I also assumed that it's going to be the same across the US. But perhaps this assumption was wrong, I'll definitely give it a try here. You can filter out chemicals but hard water is just gr...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
If you can start with a tea that you know, as a benchmark, and that you liked in the past. Also, your tap might be just fine, I think another local swordofmytriumph uses filtered tap and likes it, and bentz98125, AozoraE is in Seattle. I don’t live in Seattle proper, but half an hour east so I’m no...

Re: How do you use this? (bag sealing clips)
I'm sold, I totally need a couple of these. And yeah, it would save me the use of the plastic bag I use when the teabag gets too tiny to manage, as well as the rubber bands I use on tiny bags.

Re: Is home aging a myth if you don't live somewhere hot and humid?
My system is pretty ghetto lol. I use 69% Boveda packs and plastic bags. I have two bags, one for my sheng and one for my white tea cakes. I just stuff two boveda packs in each bag, then roll the bag’s opening up and clip it with a chip clip. It isn’t a hundred percent airtight so it does let some a...

Re: What White Are You Drinking
Just got my order from Bitterleaf that I ordered a month ago. Coronavirus delayed delivery a bit but it’s here now! :D I got another one of their white tea cakes after having been pleased with their White Crow offering of last year. This year I got their Skinny Dip tea and it is fabulous. The leaves...

Re: Puzzled wannabe Yixing buyer
That's great news, as I'm just looking for a new yancha pot :D May I ask what yancha did you try with it, and if you noticed any degradation in the aroma? I used Huangmeigui Fragrance 2019 from Lazy Cat. It was really good without the pot, but with the pot it was awesome. That said, it’s the only y...

Re: Separate clay or porcelain pot for genmaicha
I definitely would recommend having your genmaicha either in its own pot or just using porcelain or glass, or really anything that doesn't store flavor. I have a kyusu @Victoria gave me that I steep all that type of stuff in (and honestly my sencha too cause none of my clay pots seem to want to be f...

Plus it's always fun when you start setting up your "experiments" and feel oh-so-scientific. Or when you come home from the grocery store with six different brands of water and tell your family that it's for science.

Re: Puzzled wannabe Yixing buyer
I found a match for the Dicaoqing pot I got from Mud and Leaves. I tried it out with some yancha and it really improved the flavor. I have been drinking this tea for the last month or so and I did a blind test side by side with a gaiwan and the teapot and it brought out flavors I didn't know that te...

Re: Puzzled wannabe Yixing buyer
For one, if I spent hundreds on a pot I would convince myself the tea tastes better (my nature), sure it would be different...but better is subjective. I always do multiple blind taste tests against a gaiwan, with several different teas, cause if I don’t, I always convince myself that the pot makes...
