Re: Qinghuini
Bok, mudandleaves .Those are wonderful! I wish I understood pots and clays (and porcelains.) Sadly, I know nothing about this. Where is a good place to begin? Thanks :) As others have suggested, handling and using teapots is a great way to get a feeling for the clay and to learn what a good Yixing ...

Re: mud and leaves
Thanks Victoria!
Part of the beauty of the process is how unpredictable the patterns can be. It's rare that we get such a thick patch of ash glaze on a pot.

Re: Fangcun Tea Market
Nice pictures, which is what I shamefully omitted in my own entry about this place... too overwhelmed I guess. Most of it is also not exactly pretty, tea markets in China are dusty, grey and not very picturesque places... saw some funky stuff though, like tea wrapped in what looked like animal hide...

Re: New white vs. Old White Tea. Which do you prefer and why?
I'll start. I prefer new white tea. I am generally a fan of lighter flavors, but I also find new white tea to be more complex and aromatic. Aged white tea can also be good, but often I find it to be a little dry and dull. To me good aged white tea tastes of bread, while the majority of aged white t...

Re: DARJEELING FIRST FLUSH 2019
True, their websites don't offer much information and they don't seem to advertise at all, but the tea garden and grade of leaf are given on the packaging. You probably need to email them to get any additional information. They offer very good value for price. They are certified organic and they can...

Curious which city are you located in? Not finding an introduction from you :) . Beautiful teaware selections. Thanks :) We have been based in Guangzhou China where our distribution centre is headquartered, but we are transitioning to our Ottawa Canada office. We maintain an office in each city.

You can try the Tea Campaign based out of Germany. They have branches/distributors in many countries (Boston Tea Campaign, Tea Campaign Canada). They sell certified FF and SF Darjeeling teas. They are also very affordable as they buy in bulk directly from the estates. I took a look at this vendor's...

Re: Trip to Guangzhou
All in all, Guangzhou is definitely worth a visit, the Shamian colonial area in particular. Seems easier to navigate than Shanghai, though less westernised. Food is surprisingly light and not as oily and salty as is often the case in China. Tea market is an experience, but without guidance too over...
