Re: Yixing Repair - Gap Filling

I've been pondering on the same problem. One thing that I've been thinking of, but never tried, so cannot say if it could work, is to use lead-free solder (tin/silver) to fill the hole or recreate the missing piece. It would probably not hold in place by itself, so some kind of epoxy glue would nee...

Re: Yixing Repair - Gap Filling

Since it is the spout, I’m somewhat worried about about jbw (should I?). what are your concerns? A common way to fill caps among luthiers is to use a mixture of baking soda and cyanoacrylate adhesive (aka superglue). The result looks similar to ivory, is nontoxic, tough, and able to be sanded. that...

Re: Yixing Repair - Gap Filling

do you have a pic of something you're considering repairing? if jb-weld is acceptable, it can often be used to fill gaps. one or more of the following techniques may be helpful: using a form (masking tape? construction paper?) thickening by waiting about 30 minutes before using using an aggregate (s...

Re: Green oolongs losing flavor within 2 weeks of opening

i agree, gaoshan is best enjoyed within a few weeks of opening it. imo about the most sensitive teas are japanese greens (matcha probably #1 most sensitive). it's a shame, but because of that, i try hard to only have one pack of gaoshan or sencha open at a time. however, the effect of degradation (o...

Six Famous Tea Mountains (6FTM) Questions

do 6FTM blends often resemble each other, like how Yiwu teas usually have a common profile? i just realized that there is a Six Famous Tea Mountain Factory ( reference here ). has anyone tried tea from 6FTM factory? are other teas labeled as 6FTM sometimes connected to 6FTM factory (e.g. using a rec...

Re: Qin Xin Wulong

great article. i enjoyed reading it, and i can tell you spent time researching and writing it. in a comment, you mentioned qing xin da mou (distinct from qingxin wulong ). is that the typical cultivar used for dongfang meiren ? do you know if da mou is commonly used in taiwan for other teas too? tha...

Re: Tong-worthy teas

i'm inexperienced with puerh, but i have tonged, in chronological order: 2007 Yibang Cha Ma Si “Mansa Wild” this was a tea from one of toby's curated box things. tasty with a distinctive animal musk aroma (like ferrets). it wasn't that expensive, and it's a nice daily drinker. something i've come to...

Re: Tea boats

Essence of Tea carries now a selection of very traditional pewter tea trays/boats. I have been looking for one for at least a decade, but the old ones are super rare and nobody sells one. These ones here are new, but made in the old way :) https://essenceoftea.com/collections/tea-trays-and-plates t...

since the 'view active topics' page is often extensively used by experienced phpBB users, we decided to move it directly into the navigation (as 'activity').
no longer necessary to go looking for it in the 'quick links' menu.
