Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Sounds like an amazing tea, one I hope to try someday. Don’t mention Bitcoin.. I almost bought £50 worth the year after it started. I dread to think how much that would be worth  I’d be drinking a lot of Special Tribute Keemun, put it that way. At $2.50/g, it's say ~$5 to 8/serving. I'd sooner...

soapy bubbles on brewing tea?
Does anyone recall whether soapy/ looking bubbles, more than is typically found when making tea, on the surface of the brew and liquor could be an indicator of excess pesticide residue? (aside- any progress on the searchable old-school TC static archive?) I just started noticing it particularly with...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Curious how are you steeping your Keemun? and other blacks in general, leaf/water/temp/time. Time: 3:45s for Indian teas, and 4:15s for chinese blacks Ratio: 1g leaf : 90g H20 Temp (measured in vessel): ~190-195F (88-93C) for FF and SF Darjeeling. ~205F (96+) for fully oxidized blacks. (measured af...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I’ve eyed that Keemun longingly for a while now but can never bring myself to buy some. Do you know if Hojo offers <10g samples upon request for teas like this? I’d love to buy a single sessions worth. It seems awfully expensive for what it is but I’m intrigued. It couldn't hurt to ask. Or just tak...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I'm profane with blacks, I have not tasted any yet, I see good impressions but, with what do you think I could introduce for a beginner To get a range, what are your current favorite teas? Right now: oolong: Da Hong Pao and 'Honey Aroma' Tie Guan Yin Gracias ;) If you can spend $80USD for 30g, Hojo...

Re: A Time for "Bad" Tea?
As a result of this year's 'continuing education' tuition splurge, my 2018 budget should be more like <$800, the 'drinkable' avg should go from 85% to >95%, and the bad tea rate should approach zero. Ha is that assuming you will not explore any new teas in 2018 :? Something most of us here enjoy do...

Re: A Time for "Bad" Tea?
(Of course, if I run out of bad tea, I won't seek more but expect somehow will always have some. I don't drink bad tea purposefully, but encountering one is a good way to recalibrate and renew appreciation for one's stockpile. Last night I tossed a cup of a citrus earl grey, a free sample I finally...

Wow, I've heard his name mentioned before, but had never seen such nice Japan-style teaware made by a Westerner.

Rooibos Source?
Can anyone recommend a high-quality rooibos source?
I wonder if there are any rooibos or tisane vendors anything akin to the needle-in-haystack tea vendors we use...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Just had this 2017 Doomni Assam Oolong again. Many floral and fruit notes. Bright, brisk. Not tannic. No harsh notes. Pleasant surprise to find a good Oolong at sealevel- it doesn't exactly have that high mountain mineral taste, but the estate is well-regarded and must have good terroir. I'm sure it...

Re: What White Are You Drinking
Drinking Hojo's Gu Shu Yin Zhen. Has that quintessential succulent/mouthwatering melon essence of C sinensis flavor of high-quality white buds. Much more refined and elegant than some other Yunnan whites. Hojo's blog post about this one: http://hojotea.com/en/posts-58/ I will add some photos tomorro...

Re: Porcelain Tea Tasting Set
Looking at this set, I'm wondering how often are you using it- when you get a new tea to sample? If it was redesigned it would make a good travel set, i.e. remove handle, add wood or silicone on outside of brewing vessel to protect fingers from heat, and make serving cup fit under the brewing vesse...
