Not really the best lighting... rather soft but sufficient lighting to see the clay character.

Cheers!

Unfortunately covid19 separated me from my camera, and it is night now so I don't have great lighting. I tried my best with my phone's camera. This is an early 1970s jiazini side handle gezui:

Re: Yixing

Bok I doubt that too, thanks. :) It's hard for me to trust a modern studio. I think I'll just stick to using F1 pots for now. OCTO Yeah, that's true. However, this name popped up multiple times on teachat. Someone in Germany is selling a pot of this studio, so I figured it would not be a bad idea t...

Another benefit of larger pot + less tea is that it gives the leaves more space to open

Re: Gong fu Brewing: What are your best tips for beginners?

Any tips on getting the leaves to open up quicker? I brew at 190-195F and generally with a 100ml gaiwan after 5 steepings usually I want to stop drinking tea lool. My leaves will open with 9+ steepings but generally I don't do that many unless trying out a new tea. As a rule of thumb.... (after rin...

Re: Yixing

A studio from Yixing which claims to use only F1 clays as far as I know. It was mentioned a couple of times on teachat and pu-erh.sk sells their pots. OIC.. there are so many thousand Yixing teapot studios in Yixing itself.... it's almost impossible to know them by name unless one goes searching fo...

Re: Looking to pair some pots. Ideas on where to begin?

My tea choices are of course my tea preferences. But it’s also a good way to judge what the tea can do, for fruit and floral and in general oolong roast layers or a bit of earth, astringency and puer depth. It’s the first thing I look for if the pot seems more of a fit for one or the other. The met...

(By the way, my beautiful thin porcelain fair cup just cracked as I was getting started, so I am looking for something else that is neutral. Got a Banko Yuzamashi but I don't think that will do. Damn it!)

Re: Looking to pair some pots. Ideas on where to begin?

Thank you!!! And now I am standing in front of my tea collection stumped, not knowing what to choose to kick off the experiments. Any recommendations of a kind of tea that is well known for being particularly moody depending on the clay?gld suggested to go for an oolong or a sheng... Comments? Good...

So, OCTO, quick question: do I need to leave the tea for long in each teapot?
@sporad

10 sec will be more than sufficient.

Cheers.

Re: Looking to pair some pots. Ideas on where to begin?

Well thought out reply and you make a lot of good points. As you said a picture can be deceiving, so we have to work with what we got. And it can be tricky in some cases like that Zhuni to determine what is what. I am by no means saying that said pot is definitely fake or bad clay, just that there ...
