Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Today I had 2 different LBZ spaced a few hours apart. First of the day was 2017 Hai Lang Hao "Lao Ban Zhang Gu Shu" Ancient Arbor Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake. I had a bigger breakfast before having but even still it was so strong. Not very bitter but it certainly had some bite, though I brewed with care. It...

Re: Looking for places to browse: Tokyo

I had wanted to go here but didn’t because it was kind of out of the way https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g1066451-d11689654-Reviews-Sakurai_Tea_Experience-Minato_Tokyo_Tokyo_Prefecture_Kanto.html I went to a place in Ginza but wasn’t too blown away, don’t remember the name but it had a...

2019 so far: $1,500
My goal for 2019 will be $5k since I plan to buy a yixing.

Have you ever intentionally decreased the temperature in the middle of a session?

When decocting herbs, you usually bring the roots to a boil in water and then simmer for a longer period of time. I was wondering if someone has ever done something similar intentionally with their tea to bring out certain flavors?

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

I use Poland Spring. I drink Taiwanese green oolongs and sheng. The tap water in NYC is good for drinking but is clearly lacking for tea when compared side-by-side with Poland spring water. I've tried to and failed to muster the effort to seriously analyze which water brands are the best. I've tried...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Currently drinking Hojo’s deep fermented bug bitten Li Shan. I love this tea. It’s got the usual Li Shan character, and a really strong muscat quality from the bug bites, and it has a really deep flavor, like medjool dates and raisins, and something else I can’t put my finger on but keeps me coming...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I'm having the first decent Dong Ding of my life. It's a very light roast because the leaves are fairly green and also because I like it (I don't really enjoy roasted teas). Liquor is yellow even when brewing a little more aggressively. I still don't love the tea but I can at least better understand...

Re: 2019 Vendor List

There's this (the list is catered to beginners): https://www.reddit.com/r/tea/wiki/vendors/page_01 But quite frankly I don't trust it at all and can't see how some of those vendors ended up in the top 10 unless they paid $. Our respective threads are much more trustworthy since they're an aggregatio...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I'm drinking Xishuangbanna Ancient Tree Sheng Pu erh Tea from Four Seasons Tea. The liquor is very orange despite only the 1st steep, the leaves are leathery and mostly fully intact, complex aroma of the wet leaves. The flavor has a subtle smoky taste with salt and buttery mouth feel, and the charac...
