Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I skipped Chinese greens last year and I’m pleased that I’ve ordered my old favorites this year - TPHK, anji bai cha and long jing. It’s also an excuse to use some of the tea ware that doesn’t work for Japanese greens. I started with the TPHK since the shape adds to the interest, the way that whisk...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I'm drinking kukicha sencha from Kettl, and it's made from about 50% stems and 50% leaves that are made into sencha. The taste is overall less bitter than a sencha, less aromatic, but has a wider flavor profile instead of being so narrowly concentrated. The smell of the wet leaves is rather nutty, b...

Re: Hokujo vs Kobiwako clay
@Bok, is your kobiwako pot from Hojo?
Chicago
I’ll be in Chicago in 2 weeks. Are there any tea shops I should check out?

Re: Hokujo vs Kobiwako clay
Well, not necessarily. I’ve had a few higher fired pots that perform noticeably better than gaiwans right from the beginning and don’t change too much in nature even after heavy use. And some low fired duanni that was used so much it changed the entire pot color but I still didn't like how it brewed...

Re: Hokujo vs Kobiwako clay
I wonder how I will like this pot after I season it. If this type of clay doesn't need to be seasoned we may be in trouble lol. I just taste tested some sencha in a brand new kobiwako pot vs in a gaiwan and the gaiwan brewed it better. The kobiwako took away the buttery mouthfeel the gaiwan gave whi...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Today I drank Tan Yang Gong Fu - Mu Dan Xiang Series from Four Seasons Tea. The astringency in this tea was very balanced and the overall taste was rather refined. Not meant to be an everyday drinker. What I've realized in regards to my black tea drinking is that as long as the astringency is very b...

Re: All about silver
I really wish I had the cojones to have bought the $1,600 shui ping silver teapot I saw in Taiwan. It was so beautiful. Was it Taiwan made? A lot of those are actually from China or Japan, you might have luck to get it for a better price there. Not sure, saw it in a jeweler's shop in Hayashi Dept S...
