Re: Facebook vendor: Chemical Free Purple Clay Exchange

Some other things that can help your pot problems: Use two hands to handle the pot, one to hold the lid knob the other for the handle Lid knob should not be uncomfortably hot, perhaps you’re overfilling the pot with water? You can add rope wrapping to reduce heat on your fingers, dunno the official ...

Re: Facebook vendor: Chemical Free Purple Clay Exchange

Does the pot still leak if you rest your thumb on the top nob instead of the lid?

Re: Yixing

My mistake. The heavier pot has a higher iron content which should be the main contributor to why it's heavier. Now my next question is, is a pot with higher iron content good for red tea. Two different clays: 朱泥大紅袍 and 小煤窯朱泥 The seller said higher iron teapots have the effect of eliminating the ast...

Re: Yixing

A vendor has the same clay teapot shape and size but two different weights. Would the weight have much of an effect, should I buy the heavier one if I’m brewing honcha so the pot can get hotter? It’s about a 35g difference

The lighter one is half handmade and the heavier one is full handmade

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

I'm having 2021 Yesheng Hong Cha (wild red tea) from New York Tea Society.
Tasting notes are grape and light cocoa.

Due to an unexpected improvement in my health, I've been dipping my toes back into tea as an experiment.

Re: Yixing

For the sake of adding a visual, here are two modern pots from the same maker. Both were sold as Zhuni, at different price points. The one on the left I would call blended and closer to Hongni in appearance with lower quality clay as it has many impurities and is rather sandy. The pot on the right ...

My modern Zhuni pots -- some have slight attenuation of undesired hints
Yeah I want to avoid that as much as possible, I hate when that happens after testing a new pot.

Re: Yixing

I'm interested in amplifying the fruity and chocolate notes in hongcha. Is there a clay that can do this? Those are two different tasting notes... two different pots needed? What clays are often paired with hongcha and why? I don’t recall ever having chocolate notes in hongcha but definitely berrie...
