Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Chilling with Adaigo's "thai chai". It ain't bad, but it could use some tweaking imo. I was in the area of an Adaigo the other week and decided why not pick up some chai(also it was like 20f out and I needed something to warm me up). I'm a purist generally, but Masala Chai is really one of the few(o...

Re: Discussion: Is fragrance important?
The statement leaves a lot open. I think the fragrance of the dry leaf tea is not important in understanding the tea. In blind tasting tests the dry leaf smell really means nothing imo. I have had awesome smelling dry leaf that didn't equate to the tea at all(or quality of tea). It doesn't really gi...

Chilling out with some Qizhong watching some College football on this snowy day inside. Not a bad day.

Re: House humidity and smell/taste
I was just discussing this the other day with some friends and someone posted this. http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20150112-why-in-flight-food-tastes-weird It seems, from that article, low humidity (and air pressure) can affect how much we taste sweet and salty, partially also due to not being abl...

Re: House humidity and smell/taste
As has been discussed before and as now is a good time to remember, keeping one's abode warm in the winter often means keeping it too dry. When one's nose is dry from the heat in winter, air conditioning in summer, flights on airplanes etc., tea will not taste as good as it actually is. I don't kno...

House humidity and smell/taste
So it is officially fall for over a month here, but it actually is just now dipping below 40 degrees regularly. I usually have a humidifier going in my house if I'm home during the fall/winter as it can be quite dry in the house. Mine broke yesterday and I haven't picked another one up yet and is qu...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
I have been using my new teapot to try out various teas past two days. I am currently enjoying some Red Monkey cake by YS. It is starting to age a bit I think as it isn't quite as sharp or fragrant as I remember(though it could just also be these mini cakes are somewhat finicky especially since it w...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
Drank some taiwan 90s sheng(white label? blue mark? honestly don't remember or care) that I split with a friend. It was my first taste since getting it and was decently impressed. Quite a good tea despite being almost too smooth that if I brewed it like shou I would be having a hard time to discern ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Just finished posting privately about Baozhong then saw your post. One reason I am not a fan of it, is that I have not found it (in limited experience) to store well. Even refrigerated, unopened packs of Baozhong, lost strength after 2 months. Mid-level gaoshan (in price & altitude leaves were grow...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Woke up super early for some reason. Started morning off with some Farmers Baozhong from FL. I thought I drank both bags, but I was rooting around in my tea box and found the other full bag last week so I will drink it before winter is here. I did try it western style today...i won't be trying it ag...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I was drinking some Floating Leaves Nangang Baozhong earlier today. It is supposed to be an old schools style baozhong. A lot more vegetal and umami flavor. Some nice richness/creamyness. No really floral notes like other baozhong. Doesn't get too bitter(and the little that is there is welcome) eith...

Re: Drinking tea at night
I don't really want tea at night. I could probably drink it and not have sleeping problems, but it doesn't really sound appealing to me. I've had tea in the evenings 5-7 before a few times(mostly when I didn't have tea that day) but it is quite rare and it was still very much light outside.
