Re: Yixing

steanze Bok Thanks again for your help with the F1 teapot! The seller understands the situation and offers me a full refund and will check the authenticity. I was disappointed to be in this situation, but with the help of the forum and a well respected seller I had the chance to learn a lot about t...

Re: Yixing

The pot was bought as unused and I used it approx. 30 times now. Thanks a lot for your help! No problem to take more pictures, but the light get worse. ./download/file.php?id=7093 ./download/file.php?id=7094 This is not a F1 pot from the 1970s, the clay, workmanship, and shape profile are inconsist...

Well obviously it was made by a renegade potter at their secret studio. Imho this one is a true handmade artisan piece of 70’s history.

Speaking of bright yellow duanni. This one is from the 1970’s but not made by F1. Only $700 😂

Is it because of the unorthodox shape and strong red hue?
Because of the shape and the craftsmanship, i.e. the lid interior, the filter, and other details are constructed with fairly recent methods.

Re: Yixing

This is a very thin and dirty hongni pot from my dad's collection. He believes it is at least pre 90s. Would appreciate the opinions of the experts! Thank you! :D :D Color differences would be due to change in lighting. Two pics were taken under bright sun. The others under overcast conditions with...

Re: Yixing

Any idea on this strange mengchen mark? Pot is huge, half a liter probably. Based on clay, workmanship, and seals, this teapot looks modern (post 1990s, probably also post 2000s). The seal is blurry so it's hard to see, but it does not look like it says "meng chen" to me. I hope this helps. Happy N...

Re: Yixing

Thank you for the helpful breakdown, everyone! So in the end, all of the pots I thought most likely to be decent quality weren't, and all of the ones I decided to buy anyway because they were cute, even if they might not be, were. I'm mildly devastated the flower pot isn't zisha...I suppose a...

Re: Yixing

The artist is (supposedly) Chen Dongzhu, many of his other "duanni" pieces does seem quite different (to my untrained eyes)... E.g. the one to the right here: The Taobao shop in question sells significantly more expensive pots from the same guy. No idea what (if anything?) the clay is mixed with, p...

Annnnd the last one, from this shop: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.56ca2e8d4Z5a4P&id=533024836204&_u=r206sqpttd7e43 This pot was by far the most expensive, but, well...the cheery yellow flowers were hard to resist. Re: Yixing

Thank you for your help! I was brewing young sheng puerhs in it, but after steanze's advice, I tried that in the other locomotive duanni pot and really enjoyed it. (It might have been a placebo, but it seemed like it took away most of the harsh notes I found a little unpleasant while drinking.) So ...
